US Special Forces brutally kill 10 Afghan civilians in Narang (Afghanistan)
"On Dec.27, 2009, at around 2:30 of mid night, US Special Forces raided Ghazi Khan Ghondi village of Narang District in Kunar province of Afghanistan. They enter the civilian houses and kill ten civilians, among them eight were school boys, one a poor farmer and a 12-year-old rancher. They all have been shot in the head.

"Although the US occupation forces denied any involvement, but Kai Eide, special UN representative announced in a press conference that the "international forces" were engaged in the incident and "a preliminary United Nations investigation has found that eight students were among 10 Afghan civilians killed in Kunar province."

"Also the photos taken by Special Forces from the dead bodies on the crime scene are included in this gallery which are obtained by RAWA through its supporters in Afghanistan."

2. "brutally" kill? What if we were polite and nice about it?
What a horrible story, one which will resonate throughout Afghanistan and cause even more strife.

At some point, the Obama administration must reconsider its current policy and find a way out of that quagmire.

3. We must wait for all facts to emerge before blaming US personnel
This could be an attempt by Al Qaeda to stir more anti-American sentiment in Af/Pak.

5. Report Sure Sounds That Way
"Us occupation forces" is the tip off. As the saying goes...war is hell and sadly people die. While I've lost confidence in the "mission" in Afghanistan due to the incompetence and corruption of Karzai, I think our military has been put in a difficult situation (much of it thanks to the last regime) that put it in the middle of a civil war. When the US helps one side, they're a "liberator", when they don't, they're "occupiers". The question we will have to address is if Karzai falls and the Taliban once again takes power and goes on a vendetta against those that "collaborated"...are you prepared for that blood on your hands. There's no easy answers here...except to open up communication channels and try to patch together some kind of accomodation...enough of one to let our military to get out not bug out.

6. What is anothre tip off is the use of the term school childred
Other UN reports have reported the Taliban's use of children soldiers. So when children soldiers get killed they instantly are turned into school children for propaganda purposes.

Did you click the link perchance? I hate looking at dead people but I did, and everyone of them is a military age young man.

19. Military age young man is probably 10 in the mujahadeen.
BUt various occupiers of their country over the years has made that a necessity. That said. Doesn't mean they all are.

12. You mean like the way the US uses
the term enemy combatant for any innocent person that they've slaughtered?
Spare me - propaganda comes from both side but only one side is uses drones to slaughter the occupied innocents.

10. Checked ot the pictures, they all look like grown men
If school boys = college boys it might have some truth to it. Sounds like propaganda at this point.

14. Whoever has an interest in painting the US in an even worse light than we already are
They may want to embarrass this administration, hinder the US mission there, who knows. The story sounds suspect when they keep saying "school boys" like they were in elementary school but all the pictures show bearded young men.

16. High-school-aged boys can still be considered schoolchildren, too.
Edited on Sun Jan-03-10 10:23 AM by StarfarerBill
Silly semantic games.

If we're painted in a worse light, it may be because we've alienated people we're supposedly trying to help. RAWA, along with most other Afghans, oppose our occupation/war as much as they oppose the Taliban...which should tell us that we are not winning, and will not win, those hearts and minds.

Like it or not, Afghanistan is another losing cause; we should cut our losses and look for alternative means to helping the Afghan people than with bombs, drones, and assassinations.
