tomorrow january 4 is the end of the HIV Travel and Immigration Ban in the US.

so HIV affected people may visit US and work and become citizens according to the rules and legislation that rule for every other person in the world.

from a european point of view, i find this an act of justice and congratulate with president obama for this.
what do you think about it - american DUers?

3. thanx. you know - this is front page news in italian newspapers...
...and i can't find it anywhere on the US papers!
but maybe it's my fault in searching, or it will be tomorrow.

5. Good to hear. US media tends to downplay/ignore Kerry's efforts, including this one.

He had worked on the language for some time and was prepared to push this bill through his SFRC committee as soon as he took the reins.

Thankfully there was a Dem president in place to sign the bill.

7. Probably for the best that it isn't on the front pages here.
I hate to say it, but many Americans are still prone to "gay panic" and hysteria over the issue of HIV. Combine that with the widespread intolerance toward immigrants and you have a recipe for some pretty ugly reactionary diatribes from the right wing punditry. I am glad to see this one stay under their radar.
