Chicago Tribune: Brutal cold continues in area
Brutal cold continues in area
January 2, 2010 11:48 PM | 15 Comments | UPDATED STORY

The Chicago area could see subnormal temperatures for at least the next week to 10 days, including single digits to below-zero readings in some suburbs.

Going into early Sunday, temperatures will drop to about 3 degrees downtown but 1 to 5 degrees below zero in the suburbs. Wind chills will reach 10 to 20 below zero.

Later Sunday it could warm up to 12 to 16 degrees, but wind chills will remain below zero.

Because of the cold and winds, lake effect snow will continue in northwest Indiana and southwest lower Michigan for at least the next few days. Since last Thursday, some portions of that area will have seen accumulations of up to 2 feet. .............(more)
