Illinois Sheriff Jailed On Drug Charges Faces New Allegations Of Murder For Hire With Wife, So

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (AP) — A southern Illinois sheriff already accused of selling marijuana, often while on duty, now faces charges of solicitation of murder for hire.

Gallatin County Sheriff Raymond Martin was arrested Saturday at the Jackson County Jail, where he's being held on the drug charges.

His wife, 36-year-old Kristina Martin, and son, 20-year-old Cody Martin, were arrested as they came to visit him.

All three are being held on $1 million bond. They're scheduled to make their first court appearance on Tuesday.
