Little Steven Van Zandt put it well... |

“Global warming isn’t new; it just has a new name. We used to call it pollution, and why would you want to defend that?”

"If you visit American city, You will find it very pretty. Just two things of which you must beware: Don't drink the water and don't breathe the air."

Okay, Titans of Industry, a.k.a. Polluters, are greedy bastards who don't give a shit about anything but their own profits -- that's why they're global-warming deniers.
Here's what I don't get... your average Joe or Jill... what's in it for them to stand up and fight for the polluters?

That's a bit of a guess, since in the long view the answer is absolutely nothing. Most are sadly, criminally even, misinformed by people who stand to make a bajillion dollars through their ignorance. We all could "benefit" from child labor: the little bastards work for almost nothing, get no health/retirement benefits, and have tiny fingers to do all the tiny detail work on our designer bags. But child labor is largely frowned upon (if not discreetly encouraged anyway) because the anti-child labor lobby (those bastards!) had better than average PR.
What does global warming have? Scientists. And as a university instructor (in the humanities), let me tell you: there are two kinds of very smart people who don't have the first clue about how to convey an idea in a way that interests, let alone convinces. Scientists and business students.
What's in it for them? The very comfortable reality of the status quo.

Effective communication by the bad guys, lousy communication by the good guys.
I think another factor is a knee-jerk reaction against anything supported by liberals.

Little Steven's Underground Garage is on the internets. He's got his shows achieved from 2002 to the present. It's a great two hours of radio and covers old and new garage rock.
It's cool because you can hear really good groups that you may never have known about! The Sonics is one example. EArly sixties that never quite made the big time.

My favorite radio show ever. Fantastic tunes and commentary, always. Just for one example, LSUG introduced me to The Creation, who are phenomenal.
