Another "Oh no, it's teh ACORN!!11!" talking point debunked! ACORN CEO did NOT visit WH.
Big Government is reporting that one Bertha E. Lewis visited the White House Residence on Sept. 4, just days before the ACORN scandal broke.

Writes the anonymous blogger:

Of course, it is possible that this isn’t ACORN’s Bertha Lewis. After a previous dump of visitor records listed the name, Jeremiah Wright, the White House said, ‘oh, that was a different Jeremiah Wright.’ The media, of course, said, ‘okay,’ and never followed up. So, maybe the Bertha Lewis listed here isn’t the CEO of ACORN. Just another Bertha Lewis who gets special weekend access to the White House Residence, complete with an extra-special staff tour. Sure, possible, but we’d love to see a bookie’s odds on that.

If only someone had taken that bet.

An administration official tells me that, indeed, this is a different Bertha Lewis, an ordinary visitor who came in through the White House visitor's office.

One clue: The ACORN official's middle initial, according to her New York voter registration record on Nexis, is "M." An ACORN spokesman says her middle name is "Mae."

UPDATE: Big Government's Andrew Breitbart, impressed with the long odds against having other, non-famous people named Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Malik Shabazz, and Bertha Lewis all turn up on the White House visitors list (they did) last year, was skeptical of my background source.

So: White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki confirmed for this morning that, indeed, it was a different Bertha Lewis, though she declined to share details about that visitor, citing privacy reasons.

1. Here's a tinfoil worthy thought
Is there somebody in the White House looking for people with names similar to or identical to controversial figures to invite to the white house as guests just to drive the wingnuts even more batshit crazy?

2. And now, eleventy-eight news cycles later, no one is listening.
The wild accusations always get more attention than the later, furtive non-retractions.
