Longaberger Announces 125 Layoffs
Longaberger Announces 125 Layoffs

NEWARK, Ohio — The Longaberger Co. announced Monday that it was laying off 125 manufacturing employees.

According to a news release issued by the company, Longaberger has a long-standing practice of reducing its manufacturing workforce this time of year to bring inventory in line with anticipated first-quarter sales.

The company hopes to recall employees as demand increases after the traditional post-holiday slowdown, the release stated.

Longaberger also announced a strategic partnership with Exel, of Westerville, that will enable the direct selling company to improve service to customers.

Starting Jan. 11, Exel will manage, oversee and direct all operations associated with packaging customer orders at Longaberger's Customer Fulfillment Center in Frazeysburg, Ohio.

2. It is.
I can't feel sorry for the owners, but I do for the workers.
