Letter to President Obama Re: The "Lesser of two evils" |
|
Sent to www.whitehouse.gov on 05JAN2010:
Dear President Obama;
I voted for you in 2008. It was the first presidential election in far too many years that I wasn't using the lesser-of-two-evils voting model. I believed I was voting for a person of principle, more of an idealist than a this-is-how-the-system-works pragmatist.
I won't waste the time of you or your staff with a review of the ways in which you are failing to meet the expectations of many of those who helped to elect you.
Of course, given the mess they have made of this country since 1980, it would be an abomination to cast a vote for a Republican in 2012. But neither can I go back to the lesser-of-two-evils method.
Regards...

1. Increasingly, it looks like there aren't really two SEPARATE evils. |
|
There really is nowhere to turn, now, is there?

2. I had a paragraph about that, but took it out |

The battles of Democrat/Republican on a national level and of Left/Right within parties are not the real battles. We're in a class war, and it appears to me that both parties have been captured by economic interests. It explains the lousy health care bills; it explains the growing elements of a police state; it explains our foreign policy, which conflicts with all of the principles of human rights and democracy that we profess.

Don't forget that the lesser of two evils is still evil.
