New FL GOP (Tea Party) Head... |
|
Well, this man is from my town...I know him. I always understood him to be a strong Republican but I surely am sad to learn he is a Tea Partier in reality. I just don't get it. Are they all wanting a Theocracy or what? http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/01/05/florida-gop-chief-resigns-bow-tea-partiers/

1. Yes, thats exactly what they want |
|
I put this is another post regarding womens rights and find it fitting to your Theocracy statement:
We are being dragged backward by the religious right, albeit kicking and screaming they are still winning. They won't be happy till every American citizen is in church every time the doors are open, every woman of childbearing age is married and reproducing in between house work and PTA, husbands or fathers approve and consent for any form of birth control, every gay or lesbian is back in the closet, people of color have their own neighborhood, boys wear dress pants and button up shirts and girls can only wear dresses and skirts, no post secondary education, no make up, no adornments, every home has at least one gun per family member, people who think, look or act differently are institutionalized as crazy, the US is yet again shoving "our way" down some other country's throat, the divide between rich and poor is unbridgeable and a middle aged white man is in the white house.
:hi: my fellow Floridian... I'm in north FL and it's freezing!!! I'm considering hibernation or migration.

2. I don't know how we will fight this. |
|
And it scares me to death. I'm thinking more and more that this country is filled with ignorant people and deliberate stupidity is rampant.
Brrrrr. Yes, looks like we might even get some sleet here in NFL. What's up with that? :hi:

3. we (liberal/dems/progressives) are peaceful |
|
and passive by nature, we need to stand up more, speak up louder and continue like we have. Grassroot efforts are proven effective. We just have to keep up the fight.
We have snow in our Thursday night forecast! ugh!!! I'm live in the FL panhandle and rethinking that decison, I should have hit 95 and not stopped till I had to. :)

We're just outside Jax and I'm not impressed with the temps. My original home is NC mountains and it's REALLY cold up there tonight.
Yes, we need to stand up and be counted. And remember that no matter what, a Democrat in office is almost ALWAYS better than a Republican. IMO

5. Not a theocracy, per se |
|
After all, some busybody is bound to find some Bible passage or something that puts the lie to their scam. 1 John 4:20ff is pretty good for that sort of thing.
No, what they really want is an authoritarian government with them in charge, with the added cachet of saying that God approves of their despotic rule. What God might actually want is immaterial.
