16. Will be surprising if we don't see more
After fighting all the RW crap of the Bush years, they are probably weary of fighting RW BS. Rahm declared open season on progressives in the House and Senate and I'm just surprised any of them have the stomach to stick around for more of this crap.

2. So what, mid-west "democrats" are not progressive democrats, not much better than moderates...
Edited on Tue Jan-05-10 06:19 PM by LaPera
Better to have a Dem from larger progressive states head committees than these moderate to republican clowns like Baucus, Nelson, Lincoln, etc...

Baucus, Nelson, Lincoln, etc..."

(not misquoting, sorry... just making a point: I intentionally left-out "DEMs" only because I'm a registered-Independent who has come to NOT TRUST ANYONE--except those who are outspoken progressives with aggressive social agendas)

17. FUCK YOU! Dorgan is a champion of the common person over corporate interests.
You can take your Anti-Heartland elitism and shove it up your ass.

21. News Flash:
You don't get to have progressive Dems as committee chairs unless there are enough Dems around to have a majority, and you don't win majorities in this country on a purist platform.

4. Can anyone really blame him?
He's probably had his fill of all the bullshit, and wants to do something enjoyable..

He probably missed most of the "growing up years" of his own kids,m and maybe he wants to be there for the grandkids.. life is short

10. Not surprising at all after the WH shot down his reimportation amedment
He tried to preserve one last scrap of something good for the people and the Rahmsquad put a hit out on it. I hate to see him go but don't blame him a bit.

18. This just makes me sad
Incredibly sad. Well, that seat will now belong to a republican for the next 50 years or more. I didn't always agree with Dorgan, but I believe he always did what he truly thought was right.

20. Dorgan is a fucktard on some issues like banking
But he's a liberal on other issues. This is not good news.
