Bristol Palin Starts Political Consulting Firm
On Rachel Maddow's show Tuesday night, Maddow dug into some curious paperwork filed in Alaska last September by the 19-year-old Bristol Palin, daughter of Sarah, mother of Tripp. The paperwork established Bristol Palin as the organizer of a new company called BSMP LLC. (BSMP is Palin's initials: Bristol Sharon Marie Palin).

According to the paperwork, the company "intends to provide lobbying, public relations, and political consulting services."

From Maddow's report:

finally got back to us late this evening. He told us in an E-mail, quote, "The code for BSMP, LLC pertains to several areas but includes public relations. Bristol Palin provides public relations services and is currently an ambassador for the Candie`s Foundation.

The Candie`s Foundation is a pro-abstinence organization. Bristol Palin has essentially set herself up to be paid as an incorporated entity as opposed to being paid as an individual and that`s sort of a common choice people make when they have money coming in from various sources like this.

So BSMP, LLC, may just be a pretty smart financial decision by a very astute 19-year-old, or Bristol Palin is about to launch a lobbying and consultancy firm to run her mom`s 2012 presidential campaign. Theoretically possible, but probably not.

9. Yes, but a percentage of his campaign donations were going to his wife's firm.
Since Sarah's not running for anything or holding office at the moment, it's not really the same situation.

7. Perfect example of the new economy. Scams, scams and more scams.
It's like getting your own reality show. Only in f**king America would a nineteen
year old twit get a gig as a lobbyist and consultant. I'd be willing to bet by this
time next year she'll be pulling in six figures.

8. LLC money is considered as personal income.
Had she actually incorporated at this stage, I might see the criticism, but forming an LLC is standard practice for anybody starting their own business.

32. What's The Business Objective?
That's the part i think creating the fuss. Exactly what is this business she's incorporating?

A bar band can incorporate as an LLC, but at least then, the business objective is obvious.

I have no particular suspicions about this, other than the fact that it's not clear what the objective is, and how she could possibly have the expertise to be involved in a consulting firm.

That'll be really interesting coming from the daughter of a failed vice presidential candidate and someone who violated the Republican Rule of Abstinence.

15. Some folks were saying she was gonna build an aircraft mfg company in Wasilla to compete with Boeing
It was the minimum wage increase that did it in.

See, if it wasn't for big gubmint making more and more socialist laws, brand new jumbo jets would be flying off the Wasilla assembly lines every 15 minutes.

22. It's a FRONT to absorb the PAC funds..
Edited on Tue Jan-05-10 10:50 PM by HipChick
She can pay herself out the the SarahPAC ..Bristol doesn't have to do a thing, all she has to do is accept the 'fees' for the 'Political Consultations'. And Sarah can 'pay' for 'Political Consultations' out of the PAC ... Sarah's schmucks will keep donating and Sarah can spend all she wants on 'Political consultations' with BSMP LLC, her daughter's company. It's hard for a grifter to leave money on the table..
