Conservatives long for the happier & simpler time of their childhood because everything is happier & simpler to a child.

John Oliver on The Daily Show telling the truth again.

1. That was hilarious. The woman from the 1930s: "We used to climb poles."

Mom said get down from there. "No. You're going to hit me."

4. Those were simpler times.
Growing up we made carts and took things apart for fun.

We invented games out of thin air, or pretended to play sports without the equipment (football with a potato).

One of my most memorable gifts was a girl's bike bought for me at auction by a family friend.

She was a cutie!

13. yeah. I remember I left the house after breakfast and only came home
for food. We played and rode our bikes and we never locked our doors. there were good things then. Honestly.

2. Did they show the old Coke commercial with Mean Joe Green?
If so, I am getting the Daily Show on the West Coast at 8:00 p.m., which is very cool.

Switched from Comcast to Dish last week.

:P

6. Me too, cheaper than Comcast and tons of HD. Love it.
I still can't get over how detailed some of the images are.

Love the new channels, too: Planet Green, Free Speech, Science, National Geographic, but no MSNBC.

Oh well.

7. Sorry about the MSNBC.

I have it, but it's not HD anywhere, yet. Yay on Comedy Central for doing it, though.

Colbert just made a joke about seeing into his pores on The Colbert Report.

10. A hilarious bit the other night on "30 Rock":
Whenever anyone walks in front of the HD camera they look horrid, or 20 years older.

It really does bring out the, er, defects in a face sometimes.

BTW, I wonder why you have MSNBC on Dish and we don't out here...

3. Glenn Beck himself resembles a middle aged toddler.
Acts like one too.

9. I never thought of it that way, but Jon is right. All the people who
dream of "the old days" and how much simpler and happier everybody and everything was really IS remembering their childhood!

11. Ahhhhhh childhood when the biggest worry was if the president speech would
cancel this weeks sit com episode. Or if you could get out of washing dinner dishes by saying its another siblings turn tonight, worked well with dad not so well with mom. The sad thing is to many people never grew up and saw the world as being more complex then black and white, yes/no with no clear answers to any of lifes problems.

12. Only on DU could I overhear this conversation and
get extra happy about catching up on The Daily Show. It's like already hearing my friends laughing when I get to see it.
