South Korea: 36 years behind the US in abortion rights??

Choe Sang-hun of The New York Times wrote this report, "South Korea Confronts Open Secret of Abortion", about two doctors in South Korea who hope to start the first serious dialogue in that country on abortion. Even though abortion is still illegal in South Korea today (when the US Supreme Court legalized abortion back in 1973!) Choe reports that abortion is "widespread" in that nation.

Contextually, adultery's also a crime in South Korea. In December 2008, South Korean actress Ok So-ri was given a suspended eight-month prison sentence for cheating on her husband. She failed to convince the court to repeal that law. That's bordering Sharia right there.

So much for bordering that police state up north.
