Yoko Ono makes huge donation to help Philippine tropical storm victims
January 6, 10:26 AMBeatles Examiner Steve Marinucci

Yoko Ono has donated 5 million Japanese yen or 2.5 million Philippine pesos (roughly $54,000 USD) to help the victims of Tropical Storm Ondoy, which devastated the Philippines last September last year, reports GMA.TV.

A statement issued by Yoko Ono said “ learned about the very severe and continuing conditions of the 'Ondoy' victims and decided to take action. As a mother herself, she feels deep sympathy and love for suffering children.”

Ono has roots in the Philippines. She grew up in the Fujimi manor that is now the location of the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo. It was built by Ono’s uncle.

“The Fujimi residence is very close to my heart and I consider it my home sweet home in Japan. I am therefore very grateful to the Philippine government for maintaining the house in a good condition all these years,” she said in the statement.

Ono visited the Embassy in Fujimi, Tokyo before Christmas and pledged the donation, the Embassy said in a statement.

Over 40 people were killed after the storm hit the country last September. The flooding was called the capitol's worst in over 42 years.

4. I'm pro Yoko
And make no excuses for it. I love her work, yes I do, and I feel grateful for her art and the influence she had on me. Everyday, I look at John's face and Yoko's name hanging on my wall.
War is over, if you want it.
Peace.

6. Get ready for the Yoko bashers to enter thread in 3... 2... 1...
The vitriol I've seen on this board accusing her of breaking up Lennon's marriage and/or the Beatles almost 50 years ago now is astonishing. I mean, Cynthia and Sean have gotten over it, you'd think some Beatles fans could, too.

Regardless, good on Yoko. She is a true altruistic humanitarian. This is an incredible gift.

8. Not from me you won't.
I liked her back in '68 and haven't changed my opinion.
She is a true humanitarian.
