Cal State Prof Starts His Own Hate Group

Dropping Academic Veneer, Cal State Prof Starts His Own Hate Group
Posted in Anti-Semitic by Heidi Beirich on January 5, 2010

It’s official. Cal State Long Beach psychology professor Kevin MacDonald has made the leap from academia to racist activism, signing on with the American Third Position (ATP), a white supremacist political party established in October “to represent the unique political interests of White Americans.” As excellently reported by the O.C. Weekly’s Gustavo Arellano, MacDonald is partnering with local racist skinheads “to create a new political party” that hopes to “oppose and deport non-whites.” MacDonald is listed as the group’s director.

Until October, when ATP was established, MacDonald was better known for his anti-Semitic “research” purportedly proving that Jews are driven by a genetically programmed group evolutionary strategy to undermine and harm Western civilization. (The idea is that they do so in order to weaken “host societies” that might otherwise oppress or act out against the Jews.) In his academic works, MacDonald has suggested taxing Jews or restricting their access to university as ways of protecting white society.

MacDonald has become a darling of the white nationalist circuit over the past few years, presenting his anti-Semitic ideas to suit-and-tie extremists in hotel ballrooms and similar venues. MacDonald’s theories — which are dressed up in psychological jargon and feature lots of endnotes — are enthusiastically endorsed by such listeners, who feel that MacDonald justifies their hate with “science.” Former Klan boss David Duke, for instance, is a huge fan, having lifted much of his own anti-Semitic “research” from the professor. In 2004, MacDonald was awarded $10,000 for his theories by The Occidental Quarterly (TOQ), a white supremacist journal on whose editorial board he serves.

***

Last year, MacDonald started up his very own online magazine, The Occidental Observer, to “present original content touching on the themes of white identity, white interests, and the culture of the West.” There, MacDonald celebrates the crudely pro-Klan film “The Birth of A Nation,” defends the anti-Semitism of automaker Henry Ford, and rails on about white victims of black criminality.

***

The newspaper also found that Johnson had penned an infamous book in 1985, using the pseudonym James O. Pace, called Amendment to the Constitution. The book proposed a federal constitutional amendment to repeal the 14th and 15th Amendments — the 14th made freed slaves U.S. citizens and guaranteed equal protection under the law, and the 15th prohibited denial of the right to vote based on race — and substitute a blatantly racist alternative that Johnson dubbed the “Pace Amendment.” The new constitutional amendment would read: “No person shall be a citizen of the United States unless he is a non-Hispanic white of the European race, in whom there is no ascertainable trace of Negro blood, nor more than one-eighth Mongolian, Asian, Asia Minor, Middle Eastern, Semitic, Near Eastern, American Indian, Malay or other non-European or non-white blood, provided that Hispanic whites, defined as anyone with an Hispanic ancestor, may be citizens if, in addition to meeting the aforesaid ascertainable trace and percentage tests, they are in appearance indistinguishable from Americans whose ancestral home is in the British Isles or Northwestern Europe. Only citizens shall have the right and privilege to reside permanently in the United States.”

14. He is and looks to be staying employed there.
The problem is that CSU and UC have tolerated other racists ideologues in various ethnic studies programs and in some cases promoted them or at least their classes. Any attempt to go after him will bring up tenure issues and what has been a clear double standard. CSU will have a hard time getting rid of him, effectively hoist on their own petard.

There are some real crackpots in the professor biz and not all of them are about being white.

Even so it was a hard call for some of the CSU profs to vote against him.

26. They love to find citational errors and call it "plagiarism" these days.
I know of a university president canned for using the old standard ("improper") formatting on her dissertation done in the 60s. (The state university that awarded her Ph.D. testified on her behalf--she rigorously used the common citation style of the time...)

Instead of just firing you because they don't like your opinions, they throw in some slander to boot.

Turned out it was errors by the thesis editor. All the attributions were there, but not assigned to the correct reference. He came back with a fairly large document proving it to save his degree.

40. I don't suppose you took classes from people who were campaigning to deport people like yourself or
your classmates.

That is the issue here.

There is a difference between being exposed to a religious philosophy that you might not share and being exposed to hate-mongering.

In response to your previous post: it might indeed be dull if everyone thought the same, but it would NOT be dull if hate-groups and racism ceased to exist. And even if it were dull, I'd take dullness over cruelty. Given that Oswald Moseley existed, it is important to learn about him, but it would have been much better if he'd never been born, or at least never taken the road to fascism.

41. I am not sure how much give and take there is in this man's classroom.
Perhaps his ideas on race and nationality etc. do not come up in this more public setting and perhaps he does allow for an exchange of ideas. I've read his books and don't see where he calls for deportation of anyone. He also discusses other groups such as the Overseas Chinese who preserve their own cultural traditions in a relatively exclusionary way. If he says "My way or the highway!" I guess he wouldn't have many students in his courses. If he is in some political group I can't imagine it garnering too many votes however.

42. Ummm, he is director of the 'American Third Position' whose platform includes:
'If current demographic trends persist, European-Americans will become a minority in America in only a few decades time. The American Third Position will not allow this to happen.

To safeguard our identity and culture, and maintain the very existence of our nation, we will immediately put an indefinite moratorium on all immigration. Recognizing our people’s right to safety, and respecting the sanctity of the rule of law, we will immediately deport all criminal and illegal aliens. We believe, too, that American citizenship should be exclusive and meaningful. As such, the American Third Position will end the practice of automatic birthright-citizenship for children of illegal aliens. To restore, with civility, the identity and culture of our homeland, we will provide incentives for recent, legal immigrants to return to their respective lands.'

A lovely thought for the non-WASP students. 'My lecturer would like to bribe my Mum to leave the country!' 'He doesn't want any more here like my family - apparently we're not part of the identity and culture of the homeland!' Even if he refrains from introducing his views into his teaching, it can't create a good environment for the students to know that their professor is managing a hate-campaign. Even more importantly, there is a danger that his university connections and position as a published writer on evolutionary psychology will be used to help promote his vile campaign.

Presumably, 'American Third Position' is linked to the 'International Third Position' that consituted one of the factions of the National Front in the UK (precursor to the BNP). Small but nasty.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_B._MacDonald

Kevin B. MacDonald, (born January 24, 1944) is a professor of psychology at California State University, Long Beach, best known for his use of evolutionary psychology to inform his study of Judaism as being a "group evolutionary strategy." MacDonald's most controversial claim is that a suite of traits that he attributes to Jews, including higher-than-average verbal intelligence and ethnocentricism, have eugenically evolved to enhance the ability of Jews to out-compete non-Jews for resources while undermining the power and self-confidence of the white majorities in Europe and America. MacDonald distances himself from extremist organizations that have cited his academic work. His colleagues at the university's psychology department have begun formally dissociating themselves from his views.

37. RMP is surprising well correlated with internal university student evaluations of professors.

Of course the commentary tends to be much more colorful and its very possible to distort individual rating, but across colleges or universities the correlations can be very high (r=.75+).
