Question: are teabagger organizations hijacking Facebook accounts? |
|
The reason I'm asking this is because one of my Facebook friends, who has expressed some progressive views in the past, just out of nowhere posted about six updates in a row with links to tea party sites, WingNutDaily stories about William Ayers, other right wing insanity.
I'm wondering if her account got pwned by some right-wing organization, say that uses those surveys & such to harvest people's Facebook information and use it to send nastygrams to members of Congress.
Anyone else seeing this?

1. No but I have had a Paul-head post so much RP stuff that I unfriended him. |
|
Makes me want to rewatch "Bruno".

3. Or maybe she's one of those progressives that hates Barack Obama so much... |
|
...that she'll believe any lie written about him, even if it comes from a right-wing rag.

I try not to talk politics too much on Facebook personally, and I tend to quarantine my political posts to a sublist of friends that I work with in liberal and activist activities, so I can say I haven't talked politics too much with this particular friend.
That and the posts spread out about more than just President Obama - talking about gun control conspiracy theories, the writings of Sarah Palin, that sort of thing. It doesn't fit the pattern of a PUMA. Either her account got hijacked, or she drank the right-wing Kool-Aid.

4. haven't checked facebook in months, but when I hear people talkin about it, |
|
seems there are a lot of RW sheep grazing heavily at the site. Sometime people just go along with what they perceive as the majority. A vocal minority picks up followers that way. Too many folks go with a herd rather than think for themselves.

8. It depends on the circles you're in. |
|
Sure there are some right-wingers, but there's also lots of progressive people on Facebook, with their own groups & such.

6. I'm a big fan of old Western Movies |
|
There are several Facebook sites devoted to Western Movies and the big gun lobbies are moving in on them. I'm not in it for the shooting. I like my sixguns to have as many shots as it takes for the scene. Gene Autry's OK with a gun, but I like him with a guitar better. I watch Hoot Gibson for the humor. I like sidekicks like Gabby Hayes (yur durn tootin'). I really resent the fact that I like western movie lore being turned into some Conservative political crap & even more I resent the guy trying to sell me guns. I don't remember seeing an assault rifle in a Western movie. As for Tea baggers. I'm a coffee man myself.
