OMFG - 6 Republicans are retiring from the Senate
Gregg, Martinez(Lemeuix- who took his place), Voinovich, Bunning, Brownback, Kit Bond ---

And all I am hearing about are the TWO Democrats that are retiring....and how this means the Democrats will lose big time.

Hello????? Did I miss the new mathematics? I always thought that 6 was a bigger number than 2.

1. Depends on teh unit of measure. I believe 6 days is a shorter time period than 3 days
This only makes since, however, if you're trying to make the whole country time travel back to the 19th Century.

See, Republicans want to fuck up science, math, and history. Bush already killed language arts.

means a much better chance of holding his seat. Blumenthal is about 30 points up on any puke as of his announcement that he's running for the seat.

7. Blumenthal was just on Schuster. He didn't say much other than
he will make his policies known within the days ahead. And that he has a major problem with the CEO bonuses.

19. He's really popular in CT
When Jodi Rell the Republican Governor announced that she wasn't going to seek re-election a lot of people thought Blumenthal might go for that but I guess he was holding out for Dodd's seat.

Public Policy Polling has him up 30 points against either Simmons (the favorite) or McMahon (the wrestling promoter) and rich windbag.

There are few Pugs in Connecticut. There are even fewer who would tow the party line.

41. But the largest percentage of registered voters in CT are independents
A surge in new voter registrations has pushed the total number of registered voters in Connecticut to over 2,097,000 –the highest such figures in state history. Specifically, since January 1st of this year, nearly 300,827 Connecticut residents have become newly registered voters. Of those, 122,006 new voters have registered as Democrats, 38,693 have registered as Republicans and 138,088 are unaffiliated voters.

In October, more than 134,000 new voters have registered for the November general election. The total number of registered voters in Connecticut is 2,097,635. The largest group of registered voters in Connecticut is unaffiliated, accounting for 883,274 voters. There are 779,784 registered Democrats and 427,020 registered Republicans.

http://www.stamfordplus.com/stm/information/nws1/publish/News_1/More-than-134-000-Connecticut-residents-registered-to-vote-in-October3816.shtml

That's why Lieberman gets elected. If that independent bloc goes conservo, they could tip the Republican scales.

But it sounds like Blumenthal is a good bet. Just wanting to correct the record. It's not like Republicans are scarce as hen's teeth, and independents outnumber Democrats.

42. Wait til you get to know him better! He's even better than you think!
He and his wife are strong supporters of Planned Parenthood in CT and I worked with Cindy on our fundraising events there. He's been a tireless defender of consumer rights and his office has helped countless "little" people get some justice out of our system. And these people don't forget. It's amazing. The people of CT know this guy is on their side. He is perfect for the upcoming election...

Although Dorgan's seat will probably switch. I think Blumenthal wins in CT. Turn it off. Best thing, really. Or become a news journalist.

12. To listen to the media, the Democratic party is imploding..
What none of them have said so far is that in CT at least, Dodd's exist means the seat will most likely remain Democratic since Blumenthal will be very tough to beat.

But no...none of them are saying that. They only go on about how very bad this is for the Democratic Party.

16. I wouldn't count Brownback as a victory
there's probably a 95% chance that he will be replaced by another Republican in Kansas, either Tiahrt or Moran. We could have won it with Sebelius, but, but, but noooooo. Daschle just had to goof on his taxes.

How MANY times does the corpmedia's bias for and protection of the GOP have to be obvious before the Dems rise up?

37. That was one of the most frustrating things to witness.
I felt so helpless watching the msm do that - escalating the swiftboat liars and ignoring the man that should've been President!

And I feel almost the same way watching all the attention the media is now giving to the Cheneys. Why? Why do they escalate them? If the msm would ignore those heartless a-holes, maybe they would finally shut up. But no - everytime Dick opens his mouth, that's all you hear about on the news...and unfortunately that includes Keith and Rachel.

argh.

23. You are correct
This woman commentator on CNN said a while ago, does this mean the democrats are worried they won't get re-elected. And then I get this email from the Republican National Committee and said the Democrats are running for the hills. I don't get it. Do they think people are so damn stupid that they don't realize that 6 is more than 2. And that Dodd has added to his retirement choice a health problem. Of course they could all be like Byrd and stay til they can't even walk into the senate, but I think if they are ill they should get out and spend time enjoying their old age.

Why are the republicans retiring. That's what I want to know.

28. Actually, rumor has it that McCain may have a challenger...JD Hayworth who would be WORSE than
McCain. He used to be in Congress and thankfully lost his seat.
Now the teabaggers are trying to get him to run against McCain. Hayworth is f-ing nuts. Very Palin-like.

but NEVER any from Hayworth! McNuts used to be a fairly reasonable Pub before he was the candidate for the Pubs last year. I think I'd rather see him stay where he is than have to put up with JD!
