The WTF Moment of the day
News Corp is the number 2 donor for the DNC.

For those who are not aware of who News Corp is, it is the parent company of Fox News.

12. Neither open secrets nor political money line show that donation.
Edited on Wed Jan-06-10 10:43 PM by Deep13
I searched "Murdock" 2007-2008 presidential on politicalmoneyline.com and "Murdock" presidential 2008 for Hillary Clinton.

I'm sure you will excuse me for choosing not to credit an internet blog from the Murdock rag, Wall Street Journal.

14. Appears you are right about the fundraiser.
Still, no check from Murdock himself. Also, the people giving money were individuals. Corporations cannot contribute to candidates directly (although we are all aware of the ways around it.)

'Scuse me for being so defensive. I just feel it I'm back in the primaries again. I certainly was not happy to learn that HRC was involved in the C-Street Family thing.

2. And the DNC is the number 12 donor according to that list.
So what does that list really mean?

4. DNC employees gave back

A corporation can't give a direct donation to a political campaign. They do it through employees or political action committees.

7. "covering your bets." Welcome to politics.
From the UK but the strategy is the same:

Whatever your strategy, always try cover yourself. If you're placing £1 on a bet that looks like a long shot, and although 1 in 100 times it may come in and make you a fair bit of profit, place a bet on something you're think has a good chance of coming in that will win you that £1 you're likely to lose on a longshot. link

8. Perhaps there is something there.....
Looking at past year's records though May of 2009, hard to determine anything conclusive, IMO...
when looking at Murdorck's specific donations in particular, as opposed to the entire large media empire.

$248,344* Republican
$90,300 Democrat
$70,394 special interest
total: $409,038
http://www.newsmeat.com/billionaire_political_donations/Rupert_Murdoch.php

Perhaps this is the records of employees there?
