ALBUQUERQUE- A teacher at an Albuquerque high school was honored Wednesday for helping save the life of a student who had collapsed last month.

Last month, Nicholas Roldan, a 14-year-old freshman, collapsed. When she couldn't find a pulse or feel his breath, she performed CPR for 15 minutes and even used one of the school's defibrillators until paramedics arrived.

"Right before they were going to leave the room, I heard them say, 'He's got a pulse,'" she said. "And all I said was, you know, 'thank God.'"

Roldan was in a coma for a while, but came out of it with no permanent damage.

1. It won't make the news like teacher-sex scandals; but it should.

3. Excellent...
and may I add, for those who read this, if you haven't already, I urge you take a CPR class. Most are free to nominal in cost...but the benefits of having this knowledge far out weigh the short time you spend learning the technique.

5. Hubby and I graduated from Manzano.
An OK school aside from the fact that 1/2 or more of it is painted purple.

Quick look at my Scepter '82 yearbook.... nope she wasn't teaching then.
