3 dead, including presumed gunman, after rampage at North Side power company

By Kim Bell
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
01/07/2010

UPDATED, 11:50 a.m. Thursday with new details on number killed, gunman and lawsuit.

ST. LOUIS -- A disgruntled employee of a power company stormed the plant with an assault rifle this morning in north St. Louis, killing two workers and injuring five others. Police say a third person has been found dead -- and he is presumed to be the gunman. Police are waiting for his relatives to identify the body.

The shots erupted at 6:30 a.m., right as the morning shift began at ABB Power, at 4350 Semple Avenue.

SWAT team members searched for nearly four frantic hours for the gunman, unsure if he still inside the building. Just after 11 a.m. today, police confirmed that the body of a dead man was removed from the building. That man is believed to be the gunman -- Timothy Hendron, 51, of Webster Groves. It was not immediately clear if the man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police say Hendron's family is coming to help identify the body. Until then, they can't say for sure that it is him. ...........(more)

1. Blame it on gruntlement - not on guns!
Guns are never to blame for anything. They just go off sometimes.

6. Guns would only be to blame IF they did go off by themselves.
Only one entity on earth is to blame for this - the guy who pulled the trigger first. Not what tool he used or what method he chose. Is dynamite to blame for the Bath school massacre? Is Boeing to blame for 9/11?

2. I will never understand why people love guns more than humans.
Really does not make sense to me as a normal person.

10. A knife or hatchet attack would be easier to deter
and cause much less trauma.

3. What's important, is if it was really an assault rifle or not.
Nothing else about this story is important.

7. Missouri should have passed a law
That didn't allow guns on company property. That would have stopped him.:sarcasm:
