.... is little more than a "Smear The Democrats" effort. And it is also a fundamental tempest in a vessel smaller than a teapot.

First, whereever the president is at any time is the *fully functional* administration command center. Communication is not an issue. Reporting back is not an issue. Situation monitoring is not an issue. Technology today is such that one need NOT be at some specific desk in some specific room in some specific city. It matters NOT ONE WHIT is he was on Maui or in DC.

Similarly, when Michael Leiter remained on his ski vacation he was not out of touch. Perhaps less connected than was the President, he was nonetheless in contact, I have no doubt. It may not *look* good, but it was likely on absolutely ZERO consequence that he wasn't in some specific room, in some specific location in DC.

Any right winger who follows this line of argument is not an honest broker of commentary.

Any Democrat who follows it is, similarly, not an honest broker of commentary.

There can be fault found with the Obama administration. But *THIS* issue is not one of them. Since it is the one most often heard, and since many of those using it are smart, one can conclude that, apart from this, (cue Jon Stewart voice), they got nothin'.
