Proof of American Insanity
Freedom Fries

Joe the Plumber

A president appointed by five Supreme Court Justices (and no one rioting in the streets)

Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld not being tried for war crimes (and no one rioting in the streets)

Millions worshiping Sarah Palin

The belief that Fox News reports news

The belief that George Bush spent one minute “clearing brush” on his “ranch”

The belief that George Bush’s “ranch” was a ranch

The belief that Limbaugh/Beck/Hannity et al. are not well paid whores

The belief that the Sunday morning talk show hosts are not well paid whores

The belief that far too many in congress are not bought and paid for whores

The belief that the 21st century will be another “American Century”

The belief in the “superiority” of Christianity

This is but a short list depicting American insanity. Add your favorites.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin apologized yesterday for implying that some parts of the country are more American than others, even as similar comments by two Republican congressmen were causing a backlash that threatened their chances for reelection.

The belief that our beliefs will make a damn bit of difference in the world.

That's a belief that, for now, we are forced to live with. Either that, or we ourselves will go totally insane.

26. Being forced to shop at Walmart is an American tragedy
Most who shop there do so for financial reasons. Walmart's abuse of their employees, and their selling products produced by one-dollar-a-day employees in China and elsewhere, is unconscionable.

But toothpaste and toilet paper are necessities. And people who are out of work, or just trying to get by in today's economy, don't have much choice as to where they shop.

I'm well aware that Walmart is destroying local small businesses. And no matter how much this sucks, what are those who are watching every penny supposed to do?

28. A reality in some cases I agree - BUT (the big but)
this was not always so. The textile mills and paint stores and butcher shops didn't go out of business yesterday - it's been decades. For DECADES, people who could afford to patron the butcher shop, and paint store, and shoe store, and local grocery decided saving 5 cents on a bottle of shampoo so they had the money for that 50th baseball cap was a good trade.

It's not only Wall Street that got greedy.

32. The belief that America is a "Christian" Nation?
Edited on Fri Jan-08-10 10:59 PM by Cyrano
Congressional Republican hypocrites have used the "Christian Nation" bludgeon to get people to buy their propaganda. It hasn't worked since true Christians recognize the blasphemy being sold. And non-Christians understand the concept of why malevolent sewer dwellers continue to peddle their deadly poison.

This particular piece of intolerant propaganda is just one more entry into the halls of mega-king-sized bullshit. But no matter what it's called, it continues to be the same old sack of crap known as either "Republican Propaganda," or a mountain of total ignorance bought by those who are incurably clueless.

Because true Christians recognize the blasphemy, I placed "Christian" in quotes.

Too many people, imo, believe the propaganda.
