Former Playboy model found dead and "burned beyond recognition" in a trash bin
Burned body in trash identified as Playboy model

(CNN) -- Paula Sladewski, a 26-year-old who once modeled for Playboy, was identified Wednesday by Miami police as the person found dead and "burned beyond recognition" in a trash bin on Sunday.

Now, police are asking for the public's help to put her killer behind bars. Whoever the murderer is, police said, they are nothing short of a "monster."

"It's so horrific. They'd have to be a monster. It's a dastardly act," North Miami police spokesman Lt. Neal Cuevas told CNN. "It's the most heinous thing that a person can do to another person."

Sladewski's body was found Sunday night after firefighters extinguished flames coming from a large trash bin near a propane business.

When they put out the fire, they saw a body. But there was barely any way to identify it.

"It was just total, total, disfigurement," Cuevas told CNN. "You couldn't even tell that it was a woman or a man or even what race."

8. What an idiot, if it's him. I mean, who'd suspect?
That poor woman, and the people who love her. Just awful.

16. You were right on until this ridiculous comment
"too many pornographically-violent video games"

How you come up with that being a factor in what happened to this poor girl is beyond the pale.

3. Nightclubs, especially 'after hours' places like Space, can be extremely treacherous.
Bad things happen a lot.

4. Stayed until 7 am on Sunday?
Cuevas told CNN that Sladewski's boyfriend said they went to Club Space on Saturday and remained until about 7 a.m. Sunday, when they got into an argument.

When he was thrown out of the club after the altercation, Sladewski decided to stay, her boyfriend told police.

6. Yep. Space is one of the biggest - hence the name.
I've worked as a bouncer for along time, and I can tell you that those places are incredibly dangerous.

9. Eh, it's not that bad. I've been there a couple times.
I understand what you're saying about afterhours places in general, and agree with the sentiment, but Space isn't really an afterhours place in its location -- it's Miami. The earliest places close is at 4 a.m., and a lot of places carry on till noon the next day. Add in that Space is a huge megaclub that attracts world-famous DJs, and it's actually not as seedy as your typical afterhours place.

That said, the folks inside admittedly look like zombies when the sun comes up. Nothing worse than leaving a club like Space after 6 a.m.

10. Space isn't my 'speed'.
I've been a hermit lately, but when I do go out, it's in the deep dark underground. My perspective is colored by that somewhat, but working as security really opens your eyes.

I currently live in Miami (Westchester). I've lived in South Florida for nearing 20 years.

11. Oh, I'm sure it does. No doubt you've seen sides of clubland I haven't.
`And for what it's worth, Space is no longer my speed either -- not for at least five years or so. As far as Miami goes, I'm usually a Churchill's, Deuce or Vagabond type these days, on the rare occasion's I make it down there -- I live in Broward, so I try not to go all the way to Miami to go to bars. The cab rides back are really expensive, and the DUIs would be even more.

There's a chance we know some of the same people. Starting off with shameless burlesque...

I lived in Miramar for years before I moved to Miami.

I used to work at The Saint way back in the day when they had goth/industrial on the weekends. I ended up working for FF. What an awesome experience that was.

My bouncing job before that was a biker/lowlife bar up in Palm Beach county that didn't close until 5am and reopened at 7am. Good times. Made more in 2 nights than all week working construction.

In summation, if you have gone to any goth/industrial/fetish events, we probably know the same people. If you hang out at say, the poor house, then we surely know some of the same people. I used to love the kitchen. And Nemesis. If you know those places, we definitely know the same people.

22. Unless they've determined she burned to death, I think it's more likely
(based on similar reported crimes) she died some other way and the body was later burned to conceal evidence or try to prevent identification.
