Moyers Journal 01/08/10 - GET MAD AS HELL AND DONT TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!
Corn and Drum are guests, and the bottom line people, is that the words ‘We the People’ mean absolutely nothing to ANYONE in Washington anymore. WE are all extras in It’s a Wonderful Life, AND POTTER owns everything!

Lobbyists are doing everything with OUR money except what they should do with it. Laws are being written so vague and broad that loopholes are not the problem, it’s the interpretation of the words in the law that make the law ineffective. Simple is better except for laws, where the complex is better.

THEY get away with it because Washington CAN SAY they are doing the work of the people. The cycle of losing jobs, fighting for jobs, worrying about life in general takes the fight away from people.

The media IS NOT DOING ITS JOB. Government IS NOT doing the jobs THEY WERE voted into office for. The only two parties doing their jobs are US, AND the LOBBYISTS who are working for the CORPS running the damn country!

A defining moment is NEEDED from the executive branch. Read the stories in this months Mother Jones in order to change your hair color to grey, your blood pressure to rise, your stomach to turn, and your ideals to stop cold in their tracks!!!

5. This was a great discussion, about folks needing to rise up and get angry.
Wonderful explanation of how we've (Obama included) been had.

Original article:

Thank You, Wall Street. May We Have Another?
Americans are angry at the financial crisis—just not at the fat cats who caused it.

6. Whistleblower Heading to Prison?
JUAN GONZALEZ: Stephen Kohn, could you talk a little bit about the extent,
how massive this fraud was? Because, as you explained to me earlier this
week, every one of these Americans who were holding these accounts had to,
on their tax forms every year, check a box. The government required them to
say whether they held any foreign bank accounts. And they were not reporting
those to the government. So every annual tax form that each of these rich
Americans was filing was a fraud. And that the bank actually agreed never to
provide any written documentation to their clients, that basically
Birkenfeld and all of the UBS bankers, every quarter, came to the United
States with encrypted computers to have personal meetings with these clients
so they could know what was going on with their accounts?

STEPHEN KOHN: Yeah, exactly. What you’re saying is completely true. They
secretly entered the United States under false pretexts. They had—Birkenfeld
didn’t bring an encrypted computer, but the forty-nine others did, secretly
met with clients. Birkenfeld laid all this out to the Justice Department. He
agreed to wear a wire. He agreed to go—live in Switzerland with the people
he hung out with, wear a wire, to tell the Justice Department when these
bankers were traveling, what hotels they were staying at. He gave them their
cell phone numbers. He pointed them in the direction of how they could learn
the identities of these thousands of Americans.

STEPHEN KOHN: The last thing I want to say is, the National Whistleblowers
Center, on our webpage, whistleblowers.org, you can come on, and you can
sign a very simple email letter to the Attorney General asking for a review
of Mr. Birkenfeld’s case. I think it’s very important that the public weigh
in on this.

JUAN GONZALEZ: Although Attorney General Holder has had to recuse himself,
because he once was a bank—he once was a lawyer for UBS.

7. With the top point zero one percent owning everything, We the People don't have enough juice...
... to get the politicians to do what we want. Remember elections? You know, before when they got decided 5-4 by a corrupt SCOTUS majority? They've devolved into a condition called "lobbying."

Moyers, Corn and each of the MoJo articles are must-reads. So is your OP, benld74. Thank you for a most informative thread.

8. Very Depressing.
I just finished watching this in Denver.

Well, don't take a look at this if you think Obama is fighting for us on financial reform.

Over all, I come away from Moyer's interview of Corn and Drum feeling like we are indeed being taken for a ride by the Wall Street-Washington axis. Democrats and Republicans, Bush and Obama are/have been totally captured by the bankers, financiers and Wall Street gamblers.

I understand better what they are doing to us, but I have less hope that we are going to be left with little but just enough to get by on.
