actually meant to convey news and facts. They are sadly representative of our TV Nation and its superficial sensibilities...

|
or he would know that the closer he got to breaking records would be the sooner all secrets went public. It's one hell of a mistake to not know that you're not an insider and the vultures are always circling to grab some decaying meat. Money has confused too many Afro-American men. They are clueless devoid of all historical knowledge. All that money and too many of them still can't buy a clue.

20. The world may think he is African American |
|
but Tiger does not self identify that way.
I happen to be African American and all of the African Americans that I know happily claim Tiger as one of us, don't think he feels that way.
Perhaps that's why he doesn't understand the dynamics of what you are speaking of -- he is "Mixed" in his mind but most of the world thinks of him as Black.
PS/ As African Americans we were/are thrilled that the world thinks of him as one of us! So now,we must also claim him as "one of us" that is having problems.
In life there is GLORY and sometimes there is PAIN and MISTAKES can be made by all of us, no matter the color.
One thing for sure, whatever he calls himself ~ he has made some huge mistakes.

|
When his father is half black, 1/4 American Indian and 1/4 Chinese, his mother, is half Thai, 1/4 Chinese and 1/4 white......he's 25% black ..It's idiotic that people needs labels to stick...Mixed is mixed

|
Edited on Sat Jan-09-10 03:17 PM by malaise
but he still needs to be conscious about how others identify him and the others here aren't those African Americans who are proud to call him one of us. Tell him to look at the caricature being promoted by Vanity Fair and buy a clue.
I don't know that he made anymore mistakes than say JFK or some famous white athlete womanizers ( I don't think his private sexual exploits are the business of the public), but puss and dog don't have the same luck. At the end of the day, to not believe you will be judged the way people with one drop of African are judged is to be completely delusional - clueless (no matter how you self identify).

10. I can't be the only one who just doesn't see what the big deal is re: Tiger Woods' cheating. |
|
He's just a golfer. He cheated on his wife. For all we know, they were having marriage difficulties already. Maybe she had cheated on him. I really don't think he should have his life ruined because he cheated with a bunch of women. Is cheating with ten women really worse than cheating with one? Hasn't the trust and bond of marriage been violated just as badly when someone cheats with one person?

Private lives of celebrities are cash cows for the corporate media. And it gives them a way to distract the masses from how badly we are being screwed.

I mean, it's one thing when a preacher or politician shows their hypocrisy when they cheat because they promote the "sanctity fo marriage" and push laws to control people. Tiger Woods plays golf. It's not like he's doing steroids or something.

21. The big deal is that young men look up to this creep. |
|
I certainly don't want to perpetuate this belief that cheating on your spouse is OK as long as you're rich/famous/popular and I don't want my son to believe that.
Oh - and if someone is having marriage difficulties, cheating is the last thing one should do to remedy them. Divorce first (or don't marry at all) if you plan to cheat on a spouse who believes you are in a marriage to be faithful. (Note: truly open marriages do not fall under this cateory. There is no betrayal of trust if you've agreed to this beforehand).
And, yes, cheating once is cheating a thousand times.

29. The media are free to condemn his behavior as strongly as they want. |
|
They don't need to make it into a 24/7 media circus extravaganza in order to condemn cheating.
As another poster said, it's about ratings money and keeping us distracted from the currently VERY obvious dismantling and giveaway of our country to corporations and their obscenely wealthy leaders.

27. If he had one mistress and it had simply been reported in the Enquirer no one would have noticed |
|
Edited on Sat Jan-09-10 03:23 PM by Blasphemer
In fact, that is how the story started. One mistress named in the Enquirer. No one really paid attention until the car crash and tabloid and online reports from sources (most likely one of his mistresses) who claim he was attacked by his wife because of his infidelity. Then the mistresses start talking publicly and it just snowballed from there. One is planning a tell all book. The additional mistresses and their willingness to talk in addition to conflicting reports about what happened that night have made the story FAR more salacious than it would have been otherwise. I would say that if not for the car crash, the Enquirer story would have ended up buried and the woman named in that piece would have continued to deny the story in exchange for financial compensation. She's being compensated anyway which does not make much sense to me unless she has information that could be more damaging than what we already know. The problem is that the story could not be contained. Michael Jordan was able to keep his infidelity from becoming public knowledge for years at the peak of his career. I think Tiger would have been able to do the same if not for the way the story unfolded.

We have 24.7 Lock Up ( they must have a lot of stock in the Prisions ) someone should really check that one out.
And now we have Tiger -- guess they don't have time to play golf, they are too busy getting their money from Blackwater etc.

Most people have no idea who Vitter, Ensign, and Sanford is.
Its simply about audience the stories would draw and advertising revenue.

28. Just because WE'RE interested |
|
about the folderol Vitter, Ensign, and Sanford were/are up to, doesn't mean most of the television-viewing public are.
Let's face it, a whole lot more people are interested in Tiger Woods than in the doings of some dumb middle-aged politicians having mid-life crisis flings to forestall their fast-approaching old age. It even kind of bores me (not that all of this reportage on Tiger isn't getting a bit tiresome, too). Ho-hum.
