Obama Calls (Denver Mayor) Hickenlooper; Urges Him To Run (for Governor)
http://www.thedenverchannel.com/politics/22193946/detail.html

DENVER -- A spokesman for Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper said President Barack Obama called the mayor to discuss Colorado's governor's seat, which is up for grabs this year.

Obama pledged his support for Hickenlooper during the two-minute call, reported the The Denver Post.

Brown said Hickenlooper will decide soon but probably won't make any announcement this weekend.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, a former U.S. senator from Colorado, has already said he will not run and has endorsed Hickenlooper for governor.

A poll conducted last year by Ciruli Associates showed Hickenlooper had a 58 percent favorability rating statewide -- one point behind Salazar.

The mayor's favorability was 68 percent among Democrats, 57 percent among unaffiliated voters and 48 percent among Republicans.

3. I have a personal problem with Mayor Hickenlooper
When I was a little kid, growing up in Indiana, the highlight of our week was watching the Harlow Hickenlooper children's show, and especially his rendition of "Happy Birthday" to the nicely scrubbed little boys and girls in the audience. It was soooo early '50s and soooo lame.

The name Hickenlooper just sends me into spasms of laughter and regret.
