Environment & poor lose again: Phoenix public transit faces cutbacks
Bus and rail passengers will have a harder time getting around the Valley later this year if transit agencies enact steep service cuts being contemplated because of the poor economy.

To prepare for tighter budgets, transit operators are looking to shorten hours, lengthen wait times and eliminate routes, according to early proposals...

In Tempe, where the pinch is most pronounced, local bus service could be cut in half.

2. Same thing's happening in Cleveland.
We're looking at service cuts--cuts that will deeply affect people who need to use public transportation to get to the two or three jobs they have to have to make it in this economy.
