The only part of the Republican base that's really "fired up" is the Tea Party. And the carefully maintained fiction is the teabaggers aren't part of the GOP but are this nice little grassroots group that is tired of Washington malfeasance. In reality, according to Chairman Mike, the Tea Party is nothing more than the rabble-rousing wing of the GOP.

GOVERNORSHIPS THAT WENT REPUBLICAN. One in New Jersey was because they did not like the fact that the present governor could not stem the leakage of jobs and money.
And the one in Virginia was because those people are a bunch of religious nuts and always have been. The vote republican most of the time anyway. They sure are going to be sorry they voted for the nut they are going to put in office now. And I guess we can write most often to the newspapers to tell them that.
Other than that someone lists all the elections ,,,,Steele has won for the republicans. Please I can't think of any.
