A hundred years from now, no one will know the difference
Humans have short memories. Given another 20 years, few will remember how Reagan, and Cheney/Bush screwed us. Hell, less than 40 years have passed and today’s majority doesn’t know what Watergate was about.

You’ve heard the cliché “Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to relive it.” That’s not a function of memory. It’s about being oblivious.

Some don’t know that those they voted for are screwing them.

Some will continue to reelect those who screw them.

Some don’t know that most politicians are bought and paid for.

Some have no idea that Fox News is an arm of the Republican Party.

Some don’t understand that the news has been cancelled.

Some buy stocks not knowing the game is rigged.

Some don’t grasp that Americans have been intentionally dumbed down.

Some don’t grasp that a lot of dumb people are in charge.

Some don’t grasp that a lot of malevolent people are in charge.

Some can’t see that hate radio is a dangerous threat to all of us.

Some don't know the news media mantra "If it bleeds it leads."

Some don’t understand why a tomato costs three dollars.

Some don’t get that America is one of the greatest dangers to this planet.

But what the hell. A hundred years from now, no one will know the difference.

3. Some of them want to use you.
Some of them want to get used by you.

Some of them want to abuse you.

Some of them want to be abused.

6. "Given another 20 years, few will remember how Reagan, and Cheney/Bush screwed us"
very few people seem to realize it even today.

9. Not if we continue to comsume at the rate we are...
The drive to have more, to want more, may well deny us more years. When did satiety become too little? Why is abundance for one, "me", the rule, vs. making sure there is plenty for each and everyone?

11. Good question. And a reason why a hundred years from now,
no one may be around to know the difference.

10. Wow! That tomato really pissed you off, eh?
I'll bet the ancient Greeks complained about the same sort of things.

I am constantly amazed at how some very smart people are pretty dumb when it comes to the way the world works.

Speaking of 100 years, I recently started playing around on Wikisource, which has the entire 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica

http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/1911_Encyclop%C3%A6dia_Britannica

99 years, baby. It's nice to at least be able to try to learn from history...

12. Sigh. You're right. That tomato really pissed me off
Michael Corleone said: "If history has taught us anything, it's that you can kill anyone."

My own view of history is that you have to be nuts to pay three dollars for a tomato.
