I meant to post this over the weekend but events got ahead of me
It is now just a few days over 5 years since we lost our beloved Khephra. It seems like an eternity without his presence on his forum, always enlivening every post or thread that he was a part of. Yet in another way, it seems like only yesterday that he was here with us and that his name kept popping up in the LBN forum with all the latest news stories
Sadly, I cannot say that I was a close friend of Khephra. I never met him and only corresponded briefly with him by PM as well as interacting with him on the various forums. We were going to meet up when I came to Indiana and had made all the arrangements but, sadly, a last-minute crisis prevented him from coming
But even at a distance, I was privileged enough to be able to experience first hand his kindess, his sense of fun, his intellect, his compassion, his warmth and his generosity of spirit that made him so many friends both here on DU and in real life. Even though we were only connected through a computer screen several countries apart, his friendship and his kindness made me feel special and valued in the way that a real friend would be able to do during my early years on DU
Indeed, I would say that Khephra grealy enriched my life and inspired me through his presence on DU and, judging from the tributes that flowed following his passing, several others certainly felt the same way about him. His contribution to DU was immense and it would not be an understatement to say that I think he played a key role in shaping DU into the successful community it has become today. I can truly say that I think DU (and the world in general) was a better place for having had him and is a sadder place for having lost him.
RIP Kef. I don't think we'll ever stop missing you:cry:

I wanted to see this movie called "Versus" and he had the DVD and I hadn't seen the movie yet. We were talking about it and he offered to send me his DVD of the movie half way across the country just so I could see it and talk about with him. It was those silly little small things that made him so cool.
I was away from DU when he passed, and I can't say how much it hit me when I found out upon coming back to DU. He and I weren't "friends" but I knew I had a soul spirit in him.
I miss him and his voice terribly.

that even 5 years later, so many of Khephra's DU "family" deeply miss him and want to take time to remember him.
I can not believe I have been a regular here for nearly nine years... DU is what it is today as a result of many, but Khephra was instrumental in making it a reliable source of timely news from outside the "main stream media propaganda" sources. We've had our ups and downs over the years on DU--and sadly have lost many members for many reasons--who we hope might one day find their way back. Khephra, sadly will not be among them, but is in our hearts forever.
RIP, Scott.

9. Five years... It's hard to believe. |

I still have him on my buddy list. ;(
DU is a little dimmer for every star we lose, but Khephra sure was one of the best and brightest. He was an inspiration to the rest of us who had to run to keep up, especially in LBN... ;(
