Rupert Murdoch Begins Blocking News Aggregators, Search Engines

http://www.mediaite.com/online/rupert-murdoch-begins-blocking-new-aggregators-search-engines/

New Corp honcho Rupert Murdoch has been known to refer to those running the web as “plagiarists” and “parasites,” threatening to remove all of his content from search engines like Google (especially if Bing is willing to pay up). Many wondered if he was bluffing, but now the process seems to have begun, with the Times Online blocking aggregation of its stories.

Aggregator NewsNow, via The Next Web, is reporting that they are being blocked from indexing Times Online stories:

-snip-

Whether this will be the first domino in a line of things to come remains to be seen — Google News is, of course, far more noteworthy than a “homegrown” UK aggregator — but it is certainly a move in the direction previously threatened by Murdoch and his companies. But if it does happen, expect a far larger outcry when Murdoch and crew start blocking sites that steer the internet conversation.

5. Here's why Rupert hates search engines.
Remember all the times that Chimpy tried to claim he "inherited" a recession from Clinton? Even FAUX noise's own website said otherwise, stating that the recession began in March of 2001, which was coincidentally right after the Chimp passed his first tax "cut" for rich fucks who don't pay taxes.

8. Murdoch has given up on expanding market share.
He wants to extract as much as possible out of his stable to true believers, though. It may actually work for NewsCorp, and help dilute the right-wing blogosphere, but I don't think it's a sign of bigger things to come. He's swimming upstream with this.

15. Yep
Rupert Murdoch became a major media player because of aggressive acquisition. He doesn't "get" the web and doesn't understand why he can't control it through force of will and buckets of money. Only fools and criminals block Google.

can firewall & encrypt all his shitty content and then pipe it directly into the brains of his true believers for all I care. It will not be missed.

16. Rupert has lost his marbles
Or, he has such a profound misunderstanding of the Internet that he will make this colossal mistake. He is forgetting one of the fundamental rules of effective propaganda - it must be free, easily available and in as many places as possible to be truly effective. He seems to be missing the boat on not only the nature of the INternet, but also the nature of good propaganda. I say cheers and Godspeed Rupert! Don't let those people in the Internet pipes steal your stuff.

18. So he's getting chummy with Bing. One more reason not to use it.
As if the shitty search results weren't enough.
