Should Sen. Harry Reid step down as majority leader after the disclosure of his comments about then Sen. Barack Obama's good prospects as a presidential candidate because he was 'light skinned' with 'no Negro dialect'?

Yes is winning at this time.

6. Answer how you feel

But I believe most on DU will vote no. But we are a diverse group. Since Obama stands behind Senator Reid, I will back Senator Reid too.

3. Certainly not for his remarks
which might have been insensitive but were far from fatal.

He should step down because he's fighting all the wrong battles.

7. I'm confused. I voted yes.
I figure Congress is better off with less racists in it.

10. He should step down because.......
he's going to lose his re-election race
and because he's a milquetoast-mushmouth-mumbler, who;s always ready to give in to any republican nonsense that comes his way..

He's afraid to lead..he just wants to conciliate..and to telegraph every "I'm-a-gonna-do".

12. No, of course not. Sadly, in this America, he was right.
He should, however, be removed for being an ineffective douche.

13. The poll only refers to his comments about President Obama

Answer just that question if you reply to the poll.

14. No, but he should step down next session because he is weak, uninspiring, too willing to play
footsie with conservatives, and clearly out of touch though not some racist as the Confederates try to spin.
