ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!!!
Harry Reid's comments were NOT RACIST!!!!
HE SAID NOTHING THAT EVEN REMOTELY DENOTES RACISM!!!
Why does everyone (the media specifically) help keep the GOP vapors alive when that horse should have died long ago?
Even Big Ed keeps flogging that damn horse!!!

Lest there is a feeding frenzy that will divert energy and focus away from the real issues.
We fall for the shiny object pretty easily. Now I wonder what has really been going on that we should be finding out about.

2. I have no idea. I take his statement on a comment on the racism of Americans in general, |

and not anything racist on his part.

And he was clearly talking about racism.
But to talk about racism is not racist.

Stop watching the "coverage." This will blow over within 36 hours when the next shiny object distracts the bulldogs of the Fourth Estate.

....what else is really happening for them to use this to cover it up?
Maybe: Global climate change? Asteroid? Republicans teabagging each other? China about to go belly up?
What?

But they were along the lines of Joe Biden's "clean, articulate" comment--kind of a clumsy compliment that sorta didn't turn out right.

13. I wonder the same thing ..... |
|
It is not just this story, but the wall to wall Sarah Palin coverage, the Birthers, the Tea Baggers and everything else fringe and conservative. They beat it to death. A lot of these stories would simply drop like a stone if they were reported once and let go like more important stories are. They first really began boring in on this while Bush was in office and had so much that he wanted covered up. I was hoping to see a natural end to it, but the media acts like the conservatives are still in power, particularly this group of conservative extremists and they really can't be bothered to report on anything else except for brief sound bites or complete silence.
I just read that Sarah Palin has accepted a job as a commentator for Fox news. I don't listen to Fox news but somehow I think this will destroy my brain even with the tinfoil hat.:tinfoilhat:

19. Well at least Ed had Prof. Dyson (I love that man), Rep. Clyburn (gawd |
|
I love that man) and Rev. Sharpton on to discuss Sen. Reid's mis-chosen words as opposed to his deeds (voting record).
You know as well as I do that the repukes aren't going to let go of this anytime soon, as their little pea brains can't comprehend that a 70 yr. old man stating something poorly isn't quite the same as Lott longing for continued segregation. Nor will they address that fact that Bushco** wanted Lott gone so that cat killer could take his place to further their agenda.
I'm hoping that the rightwing blowhards will resemble the size of a feather in a couple of days.

22. Agreed CatWoman, but we have to take some of the blame for this... |
|
We've been using race and gender as tools of political convenience for years (ie just look at the Democratic primaries in 2008), and I think we have to take responsibility for the high frequency use of these "cards" in today's environment. Same reason why "Nazi" means absolutely nothing to the average citizen anymore; we've all been using it to describe anything and everything we don't like for years, and we've totally wasted the word of any true meaning in today's world.
