CBS poll: only 1 in 5 say HCR is "about right" for covering Americans & controlling costs, ins cos
Sorry about the abbreviations. What I was trying to fit in there was:

"Only about one in five Americans thinks the reforms strike the right balance when it comes to expanding coverage, controlling costs and regulating insurance companies."

http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2010/01/11/politics/politicalhotsheet/entry6084856.shtml

Just 36 percent of Americans approve of Mr. Obama's handling of health care, according to the poll, conducted from Jan. 6 – 10. Fifty-four percent disapprove. In December of last year, 42 percent of Americans approved of the president’s handling of health care, and 47 percent approved in October.

Yet things could be worse: With Democrats in Congress continuing to negotiate the terms of their comprehensive health care package, both Congressional Republicans and Democrats receive even lower marks than the president on the issue, the poll shows.

About six in 10 Americans continue to disapprove of how both Democrats and Republicans in Congress are handling health care reform: 57 percent disapprove of how Democrats are handling the issue, while 61 percent disapprove of how Republicans are handling it.

Approval among each party's own supporters is also low. Just 48 percent of Democrats approve of how Democrats in Congress are handling health care, while only 43 percent of Republicans approve of how their party in Congress is handling the issue.

Moreover, there is little consensus that the reforms under consideration represent the right approach. Only about one in five Americans thinks the reforms strike the right balance when it comes to expanding coverage, controlling costs and regulating insurance companies.

-snip-

Please check the graph with the story. For the three categories they polled on -- Covering Americans, Controlling Costs, Regulating Health Insurance Costs -- the "Not Far Enough" response was more popular than the other choices: Go Too Far, About Right, Not Clear Yet, Don't Know.

2. It's the best we can do right now!
We have to be considerate of the Republican Democrats in the Party and let them have the final say, because they are so used to getting their way for years and years and may become upset if we actually moved the country to the left, like a majority of the the country voted to do.

We promise, you'll see. We will fix it later, just like we fixed NAFTA. We just need to get it passed first.

The most important thing is to pass something, so we can claim a victory. Seriously, it doesn't matter if it doesn't really help anyone and hurts them more. The Republicans would never dare to touch it later and screw us harder. We'll finally be able to say we done something great. Isn't that GREAT?

7. SHOW ME THE VOTES.
I'm so sick of people acting like it's JUST THAT EASY to pass any damn thing we like, the Senate leadership just has to will it and it'll be done. Show me where you get the 60 votes to stop a filibuster.

8. You're right. The public should just STFU and accept that their opinions don't count.
Where do they get off thinking members of Congress should represent them?

10. Show me the evidence Obama fought for a public option, or reimportation of drugs.
And please don't tell me the White House didn't have any influence, when there are entirely too many reports of WH influence behind the scenes to block some of the things he campaigned on.

13. YOU DAMN RIGHT SHOW ME THE VOTES!!!
Take a vote on Medicare for all and we'll see who the fuck votes against it!

Take a vote on a Strong Public Option and we'll see who votes against it!

Take a vote on whether Working Americans should pay for the Insurance Industry GIVEAWAY or should the RICH pay for it and we'll see who represents Working Americans!

ETC. ETC. ETC. The list goes on and on.

You show me who has the fucking balls to vote against the American People!

Yes, it is that fucking easy to light a fire under someone slamming the breaks on REAL Health Care Reform!

Make them famous for voting down REAL Health Care Reform, just so the person you Primary against them can beat the shit out of them with it. Hell, you could even burn the Republicans with it.

Check Mate & Crown Me!

5. 70% hate mandates, 60%+ want a public option.
So our so-called "centrist" leaders stick us with unpopular mandates and completely drop the popular public option.

But, no, don't you dare call them corporatists. :eyes:

12. I can think of lots of things to call them. "Corporatists" is one of the more polite ones.
I can hardly believe what a mess they've made of the HCR bill.

4. Less than 35% supported MANDATES w/o a Public Option.
Over 63% support a Public Option.

The "Democrats" are Cutting their Own Throats.

6. That's what I'm afraid of. The HCR bill will hurt us much more than it will help in November.

14. "Not Far Enough"
If it only had a strong public option available to all, approval would go WAY up. But you will never hear about that on the M$M.
