Next in the evolution of Christmas Tree warfare...

Here's an alternative to throwing away your Christmas tree: use 32 rocket engines to blast it into the sky.

Trying to find a 'green' way to "recycle our trash destined Christmas tree,' the creators of the YouTube video "Christmas Tree Rocketry: The Art and Science of Holiday Recycling" decided to rocket-launch their tree.

Switched explains the mechanism used to get the tree off the ground:

By affixing 32 SD D-12-0 class engines (read: "large rockets") wired in parallel to the tree, and hooking up a car battery to supply the power, these guys have created quite the spectacle. "All very simple," according to the creators.

See the Christmas tree rocket blast off in the video below, and hear the creators describe about how they created their holiday rocket, in their own words.
