Fox News running unpaid ads on Glenn Beck Show to fill void created by departed paying advertisers
After Sponsors Flee, Fox News Appears To have Unsold Airtime During Glenn Beck’s Show

http://stopbeck.com/2009/11/18/after-sponsors-flee-fox-news-appears-to-have-unsold-airtime-during-glenn-becks-show/

After more than 87 sponsors fled Glenn Beck, it appears as though Fox News is left with unsold airtime during Beck’s show.

Lately, ads for The Foundation for a Better Life have been appearing on Glenn Beck’s show. I contacted them regarding pulling their ads from the Glenn Beck show and here’s what they said (emphasis added):

I wanted to let you know that because we are a public service organization, we do not pay for any advertising at all (billboard space or TV airtime)—and we do not promote or partner with any organizations because of the agreements we have with those who donate their images to our billboard campaign and with those who donate the music for our TV spots.

We send our TV spots out to about 1700 TV stations across the country and if those stations have un-sold airtime available, they will often air our spots or another public service announcement. Therefore we do not dictate what channels we are on, what time we air, or what programs we air on—that is totally up to the stations.

Again, I want to re-iterate that we do not pay for advertising.

So, Fox News is running unpaid ads, which are usually run when a station has unsold airtime, during Glenn Beck’s show. Something tells me that Fox News isn’t doing this out of the kindness of their heart…

1. Foundation for a Better Life is The Mormon "Church." Also...

... back when I was working on the Stop "Doctor Laura" campaign, we got all the unpaind ads pulled as well.

Eventually, the only ads running were:

Miss Cleo
Invention Submission Workshop
Promos for their own station
Non-profit ads recorded at the local affiliate featuring the station's own on-air talent.

The local station, WCVB was forced to start testing the Emergency Broadcast System three times per show.

WCVB is the local ABC Affiliate.

Together with Fox, they operate New England Cable News (NECN)

We even got NECN to pull their promos from The "Doctor Laura" show.

I personally convinced The United Way to pull all their free, unpaid ads from "Doctor Laura" by explaining how it damaged their reputation.

There is almost NOTHING you cannot get pulled from his show.

Don't give up.

The Emergency Broadcast System will thank you.

Anschutz, a Republican donor and avid supporter of George W. Bush's administration, has been an active patron of a number of religious and right-wing causes:

* Helped fund Amendment 2, a ballot initiative designed to overturn a Colorado state law giving equal rights to gay and lesbian people.<1>

* Helped fund the Discovery Institute, a think tank based in Seattle, Washington that promotes intelligent design and critiques some theories of evolution. <1>

* Supported the Media Research Council, a group responsible for nearly all indecency complaints to the FCC in 2003.<1>

* Financed and distributed Christian-themed films, such as Amazing Grace and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, for mass audiences through his two film production companies and ownership of much of the Regal, Edwards and United Artists theater chains. Anschutz has also advocated a desire to censor R-rated Hollywood movies by editing them digitally for re-release as PG-13 in his theaters. In addition, as a producer Anschutz reportedly required the removal of certain material related to drug use and womanizing in the 2004 film Ray because he found it objectionable.<2>

Anschutz has also funded advertisements for television, billboards, and Regal Cinemas for his "For a Better Life" campaign. The campaign, while not explicitly religious, promotes "faith" and "integrity", using characters such as Shrek and Kermit the Frog. The ads were produced by Bonneville Communications, a Salt Lake City agency connected to the Mormon Church.<2>

2. They should dump Beck and have someone that will generate more advertisers.
Someone like Thom Hartmann.
