I read today in the USA paper that now the government wants to interfere with our 401k
investments. Now some meddling Congress critters are wanting to mandate we invest in an annuity rater than control our own money in our 401k. If I wanted an annuity I would buy one on my own, the first thing about an annuity the investment company takes your principle unless you take a lower payout in order to leave your beneficiary a set period of payments such as 5-10 or 15 years. In the end the f----g investment company gets the principle just the same. That is my understanding of an annuity isn't that right? Is there no end to what these a--holes want to control in our lives?

I located a link for the story: http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-01-08/americans-oppose-proposals-to-limit-401-k-s-ici-says-update2-.html

2. I also see some of them are questioning the value of the tax
deferment of 401ks.

3. A 100% tax on 401k's...
would go a long way towards helping social security. Also, it wouldn't affect working people.

how in the hell do you figure that? That's exactly what these people have in mind I think they want to confiscate our 401k to bailout SS. Bush wanted to give the SS money to Wall Street now a Democrat wants put the government in control of OUR money. Leave my money alone, it's my money it's none of the government's business if I want to feed a slot machine with it, I worked for it. The government created the PBGC to protect us from losing our pensions now the PBGC is bankrupt and us people that receive the checks are uncertain we will keep getting them from one month to the next. We don't know if when the time comes the government will bail us out, I doubt they will we don't have a lobbyist.
