Man spinning tires to get refund

In the days before he traded in his old Toyota Celica for a Volkswagen Rabbit, Jacob Eisen paid $1,509 toward the loan on the Toyota.

He figured the payment would give him more leeway when negotiating the trade-in. By owing less on the Celica, Eisen hoped to strike a better deal on the Rabbit.

There was just one hitch.

By the time he signed the paperwork Nov. 19 and drove off with his new car, the $1,509 payment still hadn't been officially recorded by his lender, Capital One.

His new lender, JPMorgan Chase, paid off the old loan, unknowingly shelling out the $1,509 yet again.

Eisen, whose wife recently was laid off, said the check means a lot to him.
