Shouldn't outsourcing be taxed? |
|
More and more jobs are being sent overseas and every time that happens the government loses tax income.
The new workers don't pay US taxes and the newly unemployed Americans receive unemployment benefits from the government.
When a company outsources they not only decrease costs, they are also draining money from the government.
Putting the moral and sociological issues aside, from a purely business standpoint doesn't this look like something that companies should have to pay for the privilege of doing?

Couple this with some sort of tax break tied to net increase of American workers over the course of a year and we could have a winner. These corporations who want to mooch off our infrastructure and give nothing back need to have their days numbered.

i would think that the company that is hired to outsource would have to pay us fed inc tax on the money they received for their services. they received this money from a us source and as such should be taxable to the united states.

5. Also, if the company becomes more profitable as a result of outsourcing |
|
they should be paying more in taxes on that profit. In reality, I expect that neither this nor your suggestion actually ever happens, though.

4. no, you don't get it. They get a tax break for outsourcing |
|
And crazy as that is, that is the way they (the congressional/corporate oligarchy) want it. It's systemic and they make billions on it. So good luck trying to change it. Sorta like healthcare. Or banking. or the military. Everything frozen in amber where the richest get the most because they fixed the rules in their favor. And if global warming is real, we'll all die this way because of it.
Cheers!

8. Yeah - I was just going to ask that -- I THOUGHT there was some kind of |

incentive (besides cheap labor) that had them leaving in droves. Profit, natch.

12. So the gov loses income and pays out to both the unemployed and the corporations. |
|
This sure sounds like an unsupportable financial plan for the long run.
Unless you are trying to drown the government in the bathtub, I guess.

9. Jobs sent overseas = workers who don't earn or pay taxes here, so HELL YES |
|
And raise the rates on the top tier of income too. Those benefiting from trashing the economy need to belly up to the bar and pay their fucking tab

were heavily taxed which provided, among other things, a DISincentive for outsourcing...In fact I believe this is what Thom Hartmann is talking about when he calls for the re-instatement of tariffs.

16. If a thing says "assembled in USA" then tax (tarriff) the parts. Would this violate free trade |
|
I've seen a million items with the assembled, or partially-assembled in USA tag on it and knew every single part had come from the orient and had been snapped together by some poor slob making minimum.
So why not put a tariff on all parts that will get further assembly in the US and then allow them to be labeled as made in the USA for all I care. Once parts become as expensive to import as they are to make domestically then the risk reduction of having a closer supply not subject to international disagreements would be enough for the "manufacturers" to buy domestic. Buy domestic means manufacture domestic means jobs.

17. At least enough to make it more expensive. |
|
What REALLY pisses me off is when they use "American" names that they can't even pronounce. "Hewow, zis is Yason. How may I be hewpwing you today?"
If they're in another country, let them use their OWN FUCKING NAMES!
