Tuberculosis-Infected Man On 'Do Not Board' List Flies Into SFO
Over the weekend, a man on the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention's "do not board" list, with a steaming case of tuberculosis, managed to fly from Philadelphia to SFO. Should his fellow passengers be worried? Not so, says US Airways spokesman Morgan Durant.

Our own first line defenses at the airports once again don't seem to be working.

1. If there is 'no risk', why is he on a no-fly list? n/t

3. I assume in case he takes a flight for 8 hours or greater.
I agree the story is confusing because the guy was whisked off to an area hospital immediately when he got off the plane. That is not the norm. So there clearly was some concern about the fellow being infectious despite the duration of the flight.

2. If you assume the airport security is for "our defense"
it seems to not be working.
If you assume the airport security for other reasons, it is working fine.
Mass numbers of people are becoming accounstomed to "show your papers, pls.".

4. Proof positive that we need the color coded alerts!

Seriously, I thought the NSA harvests huge amounts of data with the super computers we give them. I think a kid's gaming computer could match the day's ticket holders with the 'do not fly' list.

I mean, even a thermos knows when to keep something hot and another thing cold...

WTF?

5. I'd have to know a bit more about this
Was he on medication and was he considered non infectious? Was he at least masked if he is infectious?

If the answer to the above two questions is "no," then everybody on that flight needs to get a TB test and another one after three months.

We put masks on them in the hospital if they're just taking a short ride in a wheel chair down to Xray. TB is no joke.
