Tucker Carlson Launches His New Website With Jokes About Gays, Rapes and Rachel Maddow Insults--UPDATED

Just going back to my personal belief that Tucker is a mean-spirited, immature, over-privileged frat boy who owes his entire career to being born to a socialite family. Think Progress:

Today, Tucker Carlson launched his new much-hyped conservative website, The Daily Caller. One of the most prominent features is a column by Weekly Standard senior writer Matt Labash. The “Ask Matt Labash” column is supposed to be a funny “conversation.” Highlights from this week include jokes about how getting a traffic ticket is like being raped and Rachel Maddow is “the sexiest man alive”:

For those unfamiliar with me from my day job at The Weekly Standard, I’ll give you a capsule bio by way of introduction: I have the gift of wisdom. Does that sound arrogant? I’m sorry, that wasn’t my intention. I didn’t choose wisdom. It chose me. I'm guessing that since Rachel is open about being a lesbian, then in a conservative's mind, that makes her a man. What a knee-slapper. And so kind to the only person worth watching on Tucker's unlamented turn at MSNBC. Just a thought, Matt. That kind of comment doesn't exactly belie the wisdom you claim to possess.

I would love to kick his sissified ass. But there is a leap in logic from "I think he is Gay" to therefore he is being hypocritical towards gays. I've always kind of got that "vibe" from watching him on TV.

My opinion on that has nothing to do with no liking him. There are a lot of closeted celebrities I like just fine... who are also gay.

Personally I wish that Tucker and these other celebrities would come out of the closet, because we need more gay role models. (well Tucker wouldn't be a great role model but at least other gay people wouldn't feel as alone... every celebrity helps.)

Peer reviewed research has shown that people are able to accurately predict homosexuality via “gay dar” at LEAST 75% of the time even when the person publicly denies their preference. Very good odds.

Most mistakes in gaydar are made by mistakenly thinking a gay man is straight and almost never mistakenly thinking a straight man is gay. This has to do with several factors based on movement, and particular facial features.

But be clear that having sex with men is not what makes you gay. It is what you secretly prefer that makes you gay. This often leads to confusion. People state “he’s not gay because he says he’s not”. That is a fallacy. That would be like claiming a person isn’t blonde because they say they aren’t and are wearing a wig.

Research has shown that almost all gay men (regardless of nationality) show certain character traits that other straight men do not. Moving more at the elbows than the hips. The way they move their hands. Particular movement patterns in facial features.

I am sorry, but using that information, as well as personal information from having interacted with thousands of gay and straight men… I personally believe Tucker shows many traits that would be considered similar in pattern with the majority of gay men.

He may not admit it to the general public but your "gaydar, which doesn't do it" comment isn't very well informed. Gaydar does have some reliability. Studies have been done using just facial images, studies have been done using contrasting silhouettes, and observational "party" studies have been done with men identifying as straight and gay.

One of the studies has an observer view silhouettes of various men, so as not to be bias towards their clothing, etc, and predict their sexuality. The party study, on the other hand, was conducted using a collection of men and "party goers" who interact with each man and then report on their observations in regards to the sexuality each man had proclaimed to the research before starting the study.

Gaydar may very well be something given to gay men for survival purposes. Though women also seem to have better results with gaydar. For some reason, straight men are the worst at accurately predicting the sexuality of other men but... and it's been a few years since studying psychology courses on gender & sexuality in college... I remember that straight men do have well above a 50% chance of accurate identification.

Your whole argument is based on the erroneous idea that gay is a derogatory term and that calling Tucker Carlson gay is meant as an insult.
