NBC should give the 10:00 pm slot to Rachel and Keith |
|
Who needs 5 more cop/doctor/lawyer dramas? That is the type of thinking that has NBC in 4th place now.
If Rachel and Keith combined for a 1 hour prime time network show it could be Fantastic.
All the "News Magazine" shows on network TV suck, and most are 20+ years old. It is time for some new blood.
It should also help the affiliates with their local news viewership. The people watching the K&R Show (working title) would be the type who are interested in current events and who like to stay informed.
I would hate to see the MSNBC shows go away but they do many of the same stories anyways. It could be combined into 1 hour pretty easily, and putting it on Network would give it the exposure it deserves.
I would also love to see the SNL take off on it. Weekend Update needs some new material too, and since it is all NBC then Keith and Rachel could make a guest appearance that would help promote the show.

1. They could do that, but I think... |
|
trying to do a 5-night a week News magazine is a bit excessive. Maybe two or three nights a week, with one of those being Saturday or Sunday.
It would be a great show though!

2. they already do two 5 night a week shows... wouldn't it be easier |
|
for them to just do one show than 2?
Rachel can even bring her side kick to do a couple stories a week, just to help fill in. Plus Keith could do a weekly sports spot.
I think the problem would be fitting it all into 5 hours a week, not that they wouldn't be able to fill the 5 hours

3. Whether it is this show... |
|
...or something else with other talent, I agree that MSNBC should expand their news topical/political discussion content and start moving away from endless prison lockup, crime investigation material.

4. Sorry it wouldn't even do as well as Leno did and Leno did crappy |
|
which is why they are getting rid of him--don't get me wrong I love both, but it wouldn't fly on prime time network television five nights per week.

6. they are saying it is because the affiliate stations are losing viewers for their 11:00 news shows |
|

and that they are making the change to help boost the local stations
My suggestion would help because people who are inclined to watch current event shows would already be tuned to that station and would be more likely to continue watching it when the local news comes on.
It would also be MUCH less expensive to produce one news program than it would be to produce 5 cop shows

8. I don't think it would do well. |

The average person just isn't interested in politics. Many people couldn't even tell you who the VP is, or who was nominated to the supreme court this year.
