Dear Mr. President;
It's taken me awhile, but the genius of your domestic and foreign policy has suddenly become clear.
Your militarism and imperialistic foreign policy; your continued assault on the Constitution while making minor concessions to transparency with disclosure of White House visitor records and Cold War documents irrelevant to the challenges we currently face; your substitution of an insurance industry support bill for a health care reform bill; your concessions to Wall Street at the expense of those on Main Street...
As I said, the genius of your long term plan has only just now become clear to me.
You, like the founders of this nation, are of the opinion that the only hope for long-term representative government and the general welfare of the people is in short-term conflict. You've come to the realization that we've gone beyond the point where the system can be fixed from within. You understand that "better" is waiting on the other side of "much much worse," and you've designed your policies in pursuit of that goal by that path.
I applaud your subtle genius. I think I may slip out of the country and sit out the revolt someplace else, but please don't take that as a rejection of your plan.
Until then, if I happen to meet any rich folks, I promise not to tell them that your apparent support is really all about planting the seeds of their destruction.
You are brilliant!
Regards...

5. I wish I was going to get away with saying it only twice |
|
I plan to repeat it often between now and 2010/2012.
Obama hears (reads) from me daily (or his email-reading minions do).

6. There is something to be said for tearing EVERYTHING down and starting from scratch. With the |

"system" so complex and so entrenched, some/many feel that it is futile to try to alter the specifics of a system so rigged against the (non-wealthy) population. At some point, the house is too large and decrepit for repair and the only reasonable solution is to raze and rebuild. Now, we can argue whether the US is to that point yet. We cannot argue that there will be pain in that razing phase - but it's not as if there is no pain now. We are getting that hurt without any commensurate progress. Personally, I doubt if Americans are brave or strong enough to take the necessary actions that would result in significant progress.

So when I write this kind of thing and send it to the President, it's just for fun.
When I post this kind of thing on DU, it's also just for fun.
When I first started posting on DU, a friendly and Lefty DUer sent me a list of other DUers called, "DLC List." That list has proven to be a good source of entertainment. When I write anything critical of the Obama Administration or the Democratic Party, the DLCer List is like an attendance roster.

an element capable of fascism.
I wonder if they realize that their use of unrecs is no different from a book burner's use of kerosene?
It's such bad behavior, that I've resolved never to use an unrec, lest I find myself unable to look myself in the mirror.
