GALLUP ~ More Americans in favor of passing HC legislation than opposed - first time since October.
Edited on Tue Jan-12-10 04:55 PM by mzmolly
Slightly more Americans want their member of Congress to vote in favor of healthcare legislation rather than against it, 49% vs. 46% -- a first since October. Democrats are widely supportive while a slim majority of independents and most Republicans are opposed.

GALLUP

1. Thank you! This is certainly excellent news
and really bad news for the right wingnuts (who's one talking point was Americans didn't want this).

2. The question refers to "a" healthcare bill
not the insurance bills currently being dealt with. Had I been asked about "a" bill I would have said "yes", had I been asked about what they have done, I would have said "no".

5. Yes, you're right. That's what people who haven't read the bill think.

4. Your use of "Majority" is wrong/misleading
"Majority" means more than 50%; 49% is NOT a majority, it's a plurality.

8. Depends upon how one uses the word in question.
However I've found a way to edit that may be a more accurate characterization.

Thanks for your correction. :hi:

7. They were only against it for so long because of the grandstanding

of men like Baucus and Stupak and Lieberman and Ben Nelson, all of whom are playing power games and throwing tantrums in order to make sure Americans don't get anything decent out of this process.

The change in the polls just means Americans are resigned to taking it up the butt again just on the slim chance there's a crumb in the pie that will be given to them at the end of the process.

9. I think most people
understand that progress is just that? I hope the bill improves in a significant manner. But I am glad to see this trend given the grandstanding by Republicans who are opposed to any legislation.

11. EXTREMELY MISLEADING.. they did NOT ask about the ACTUAL bill being offered.
which is a screw over of the American worker and consumer.

14. I think it's misleading to suggest that people favor a bill that doesn't
exist?

13. This is still within any margin of error.
Which is conspicuous in its absence here.

15. All polls have a margin of error.
Though the trend in favor, is on an upswing it seems?
