Obama's Economic Stimulus Bill of 2009

Does anyone remember if what the bill number was that the Dems passed in 2009 that provided a tax cut to wage earners? I could be wrong but I thought that part of the package/bill that taxpayers were getting a small tax cut over a period of months. I'm trying to convince a conservanazi wingnut (an almost impossible task) that we all got a tax cut last year due to the economic stimulus package.

Can anyone direct me the bill number and I'll see if it's listed on Thomas.gov

It was the 'American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009' and became public law 111-5.

I know the IRS Tax Withholding tables were modified in Feb 09 so that less money was deducted each paycheck

4. I'm trying to read through it

To see where there was a provision on Tax Relief for taxpayers. I haven't found that specific topic yet. I'm still searching.
The main reason I'm doing this is to settle a friendly argument with a true believer. He told me one day that he was mad because of the health care reform and because Nancy Pelosi had a bill before Congress to place a 500% tax on ammunition. Personally, I believe it was another rumor from the weapons/ammunition retailers to get gun nuts to run out and buy more weapons. I told him I would believe it when he showed me the bill before Congress from thomas.gov. If and when he ever produced it, I told him that just about everything he said was bu$hit.

I told him today he got a tax cut and didn't recognize it. He played the same game on me. So, I want to show him chapter and verse to convince him that I know what I'm talking about.

He was claiming today how racist Harry Reid was and I told him that paled in comparison to Strom Thurmond and Trent Lott. End of discussion. :kick:
