1. Hard to model special election voter turnout, but she'll win |

The bad polls probably help her, since complacency is a problem in a low-turnout deal

9. I wish I still lived up there so I could vote in this one |

The thought of Teddy's seat going to a puke like Brown makes me want to vomit!
According to everything that I have read so far...almost all the money that Brown is taking in is from teabaggers from outside the state.

3. and the DNC and others are pumping big money into the race... |
|
...Taegan Goddard is also teasing news of the latest DSCC internal poll; the one from last week had a 14-point edge, but allegedly the most recent one taken this week has a 5-point lead for Coakley instead. So, the increased DSCC and DNC involvement that we discussed earlier in the digest isn't being done out of an abundance of caution, but out of real concern over a narrowing gap

4. How do they vote in Mass anyway? |

What percentage of electro-fraud machines as opposed to actual ballots?
I find it hard to believe a 'Puke could win the seat, but I also found it hard to believe they elected the Mormon dog abusing carpetbagging corporatist as governor.

6. The state government is all Democratic.... |
|
...from the 5;1 Senate to the 7:1 House, to the Democratic Secretary of State to the Democratic Governor, and the Democratic mayors of the state's largest cities.
I wouldn't worry about a stolen election....

16. So how did Mittens ever get elected there? |

Or Bill Weld, for that matter (though he was admittedly reasonable by Repuke standards)

7. I wish you could have the seen the debate last evening..... |

Scott Brown's biggest concern, which he repeated 10-20 times is that the underwear bomber is going to "Lawyer-up" because people like Coakley are OK with trying the guy in court rather than just sending him to Gitmo.
If we the people of Massachusetts elect Brown we deserve him. God forbid.

after the 8 hellish years that we have endured, then we deserve whatever happens to this country

making the Dems shy. No surprise. I was expecting this.
But I made sure that my son voted. He will be back in college on Tuesday.

11. I am somewhat concerned |

Massachusetts is a very blue state, but seven of the last twelve governors, and every governor between Michael Dukakis and Deval Patrick, were Republicans. It's not unheard of for a puke to win election up there.

15. I doubt that we'll lose it. The PPP poll is very likely "lowering the bar" |
|
Edited on Tue Jan-12-10 07:37 PM by FBaggins
I could be wrong, but my bet is that we're going to win the seat by a few points. The problem with this is that if the ground is properly laid, the RW could easily spin that as evidence of public opinion against us. "If they can only win that seat by five points then..." etc.
If expectations can be lowered to "republicans could take Kennedy's seat", then any win can be spun as a repudiation of republican obstructionism and the start of momentum back to democrats... even if it's only a few points when Kennedy last won the seat with almost a 40% spread.
