Palin disputes book saying she was unprepared for '08 campaign
Source: Washington Post

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin (R) said Tuesday night that it was "a lie" that she didn't know the difference between North Korea and South Korea during the 2008 presidential campaign.

Palin dismissed that and other assertions in a new book that reviews the presidential race as "gossipy anonymous accusations."

Palin's appearance on "The O'Reilly Factor" was her first on a Fox News show since Monday's announcement that she would join the cable network as a contributor. She was asked by host Bill O'Reilly to respond to several claims cited in John Heilemann and Mark Halperin's book "Game Change," which was the subject of a segment Sunday on CBS's "60 Minutes."

Palin said she skipped the CBS news show, saying, "I had been warned, you know, don't watch."

But she rejected the characterization of her preparations for the vice presidential debate with Sen. Joe Biden (D). Steve Schmidt, the campaign manager for John McCain's presidential bid, told the network that he was warned she was headed toward "a debacle of historic and epic proportions."

I understand she left O'Reilly's show to go straight to a plastic surgeon to address the fact that her nose grew three inches during the interview.

2. Is this the same Palin who stumbled in her interview with Katie Couric?
I mean, the media did a damn good job exposing the inexperience of Palin. Sure, she can just call every (even legitimate) criticism of her a lie all she wants, but it really reflects more on her than on the media that is not obliged to be her PR agents.

10. The Media Didn't Expose Her...Mooselini Did It All By Herself
Think about it...Katie Couric wasn't out to get Palin...tossed her a softball question pretty much anyone over the age of 16 can answer without too much difficulty. Charlie Gibson also was set to give her a free ride but her answers to his questions were so off the wall he couldn't have helped her (despite his attempts).

It just goes to prove that you can't cover stupid.

4. I wonder how long Faux is going to pay her to do cream puff interviews.
Except for a book and a few op-eds that somebody else wrote for her, that's about all she's got. Well she can stand behind a podium and recite slogans to a hand picked audience where the press and all recording devices have been prohibited. Ya gotta give her credit for that.

8. Maybe she was exhausted from reading "all of them" newspapers
That's a hell of a lot of reading she's done to go through all of them.

9. as Rachel Maddow pointed out, the book never claimed that she didn't know
the difference between NK and SK ... it was that she didn't know how it came to be or why it came to be ...

Of course, if Bill O'Reilly was the defense lawyer, and Palin was the defendant, the prosecution would be screaming "Objection! Leading the witness!"

14. There was at one time a particularly unctuous FReeper using the screen name "Randall Flagg"
The current poster appears to be the anti-Randall-Flagg.

Good piece on the I-quit-arod champion, poster child for victimhood.

13. She was fully prepared
to make a laughingstock of a lame republican throwaway campaign that they believed they would lose. There was never a reason for the republicans to pick a VP candidate with a serious political future. Truth be told I would bet, given they even bothered asking, that no serious future republican contender was even interested. Once they had checked down that list, the notion of pulling in an outsider / fresh face / biker - hunter bait came up.

While her failed attempts to answer serious questions are evidence enough, real proof of how unready she was is obvious from her simple act of accepting the offer. It took a truly uninformed political novice to understand this offer as anything other than a request to commit a large personal political sacrifice, so that the party, despite all odds, could run what might appear to some as a "complete" ticket.

She was fully prepared to lose badly in a year where this was the very likely outcome.
