I was just on another blog, Ran across this: |
|
The United Nations needs to rush supplies and aid to Haiti ASAP. They can loot the Global Climate change coffers, as everyone knows thats a farce, and get these people some help before they start getting on boats and attempting to illegally enter the USA.http://blogs.ajc.com/jay-bookman-blog/2010/01/13/banksters-in-d-c-trying-to-explain-the-inexplicable-and-justify-the-injustice/comment-page-1/#comment-206995This from the people who bent over backwards trying to convince me that Bush was perfect in his response to Katrina, and that everything bad that happened was all the Gov. and Mayor's "fault".

9. Some on FR joked about the dead UN workers. |

Such good Christians! Suggested that voodoo is the reason for the earthquake, as in, God doesn't like voodoo so this is their just desserts. I wonder how they feel when a loved one of theirs gets cancer or has a bad car wreck. Sickening.

7. They have no empathy. It's hard for liberals/progressives to understand that |
|
some people truly have no empathy whatsoever, but those people exist.
I personally know of two, and they areally, truly are that heartless. They exist, I'm sorry to say.

10. Here's something I wrote a while back on the topic. |
|
We keep thinking that the so-called conservatives are simply misguided and deluded. If we could only educate them, if we could only share our insights with them, they would then give up their destructive impulses and join with us in making a better world. We call them stupid when they fail to see things our way.
This perspective is wrong. It's not about intelligence, It's not about knowledge. it's not about an inability to understand the issues that marks the difference between the right and left in today's America, whether you're discussing corporate power or universal health care or global warming. They are not stupid. They are doing exactly what they need to be doing in order to advance their interests as they see them.
There are plenty of smart people in the corporations, plenty of smart people fighting to deny us a publicly financed health care system, and plenty of smart global-warming deniers.
The issue lies not in intellect but in something more fundamental. The Ojibwe Indians I knew in my youth would have called it "good-heartedness." It is variously expressed in small and inconspicuous acts of charity, or in great ways, as when a President pushes through a national retirement plan intended to keep the elderly out of poverty. It is about love and empathy. It is about valuing other people. It is about simple decency.

Lots of venom in that one...where to start.
First is the right wing's hatred of the UN or "one world government"...how dare the developed countries that spent centuries exploiting countries like Haiti dare to really help. Just send a boat with a week's worth of MREs, copies of Ann Rynd and videos of Glenn Dreck and let those heathens work it out for themselves. They don't have any oil anyway.
Then there's the fear of strange sounding black people trying to invade our lilly white country...how dare them. It's as if this is an excuse to leave a world of desolation and poverty for the "privilidge" of cleaning latrines in some Miami Beach hotel. Methinks right now the only thing on anyone's mind in Haiti is "am I alive" and "where's food and drinkable water".
How ironic that these are the same people who will squeal like stuck pigs if their "style" is cramped...selfish with no compassion. Here's hoping a huge hole opens up and they all fall in.
