5. You may also donate directly to a group that's been doing relief work in Haiti

on the ground since 1985, Action Against Hunger. It has a top rating w/ Charity Navigator (the major rater of how effectively charities use their money). http://www.actionagainsthunger.org/where-we-work/haiti

Obviously the people there are going to need other things in addition to medical supplies, and this is one of few reputable groups working on water, sanitation, and shelter needs in Haiti since long before the earthquake. They could make good use of your donations.

The SAME as Action Against Hunger. Both better than the Red Cross at 3 stars. That being said, I am just offering an OPTION, not a contest over which charity is better. :-)
