Bill Clinton was totally choked up when he talked with Blitzer about Haiti.
What he said and his emotional affect were so powerful. He has long ties to Haiti and is now a special envoy to the county. Bravo former President Clinton for so passionately advocating for this devastated country.

2. Wolf: "What are you doing differently based on lessons learned from Katrina?"
I wished he had said, well, for starters, the Secretary of State isn't out SHOPPING FOR SHOES, and it's not even her own country.

But that would have been impolitique.

Good God, could there be a greater contrast between Obama and an administration that would put Heckuva Job Brownie in charge?

4. I don't understand.
For several days I have heard over and over again that Bill Clinton is a racist and the new BOOK proves it. I have heard this repeatedly from AA spokespeople and others on MSNBC and from posters here at DU that his racism has now been proven.

Given that Haiti is 95% black why would Bill care? I think he is faking his concern.:sarcasm:

6. "AA Spokespeople and others on MSNBC" -- bullshit.
I watched MSNBC most of the day the last two days, and you know what they did have on there? Person after person saying that no way was Clinton a racist. You got BOTH Gene Robinson and Pat Racist Buchanan sitting side by side each other agreeing that no way is Clinton a racist. That was on Matthews, nothing on Ed saying Clinton is racist, nothing on Countdown saying clinton is racist, nothing on Rachel saying Clinton is racist.

So in your rush to make a point... let's try to keep the facts straight. People on DU may have said this proves Clinton is a racist, but MSNBC nor AA "spokespersons" (whatever that means) on MSNBC were saying anything of the sort.

9. Were you watching yesterday morning when some AA dude from
Syracuse University was stating over and over again that both Bill and Hillary were racist? He referenced his good buddy Al Sharpton and their take on how god awful the Clintons were? He talked non-stop for several minutes on this hateful theme.

He concluded by saying that "Bill Clinton was trying to cut off the head of the Democratic Party".

He got no push back on his statements - neither has Al.

12. I'm pacific coast... its already into the midday lineup by the time I can watch.
So I guess one guy on some morning show is what you were referring to... not David Shuster, not Chris Matthews, not Kieith, not Rachel.... the combined 16 HOURS (including reruns) of programming....

I guess I missed the like, one instance you decided to talk about.

18. Even here, many said he was willing to use "race", but not that he was racist
Clinton would have used anything he thought would work to give HRC an advantage.

30. Ya know, one can overcome a racist background
Or even have racist beliefs that they aren't aware are offensive, like when Joe and Hillary made Indian jokes. It doesn't mean they are so racist they are going to let millions of people suffer, but it also doesn't mean some underlying racism doesn't exist at all.

7. I remember one time he was in an airplane hangar
at the memorial service for some victims of some attack I can't recall.

Anyway, he gave a speech, and he looked like he was just barely holding it all together. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he broke down as soon as he got away from the cameras.

People I'd never heard say a kind word about anyone affiliated with the word "Democrat" were impressed by him because of that.

31. Bill said that if he thought that he could be of help there he would have gone already.
But he said that he was of more help right now staying here coordinating the relief effort and trying to raise money fast. I went to his foundation's site and made a donation. I urge anyone who can afford to do so to go there and donate what they can. Bill said that even $5 would be of help.

I found it so telling that he also mentioned that Hillary had taken him to Haiti on a belated honeymoon. She's also the one who took him to Africa for the first time. What a remarkable pair these two are and how unappreciated they are by fellow Democrats.

:(

33. Same reasons he didn't jump on a plane to Katrina or the Tsunami
(a) situation is still in flux, not stable
(b) the security detail required would put too heavy a strain on resources that are already maxed out.

He'll do what he can stateside & then when the situation in Haiti improves, he'll go. to Big Dog

Bill and Hillary do more to help others in a month than most people will in their lifetime.

So, follow your own suggestion and go screw yourself.
